Default New Debarkation Process???

MichelleP stated that when she cruised the Fascination, Carnival had a new debarkation
process of carrying off your own bags. Is this just for Miami or is this fleet wide with
Carnival?? We are cruising the Sensation in September and just love this idea. Putting
your luggage outside your door by midnight is such a hassle. We would love to be able
to just carry off our own luggage. Anybody out there know anything about this????
Thanks,
Happy Sailing................

Ihave seen it done on a 4 day cruise out of NY. The idea was that on the shorter party type cruises folks only have one bag anyway.

We just did this on yesterday It was the biggest hassle. I bet 75% of the people done this and I believe it would be just as fast to put your luggage out the night before. We was in line for about 1 hour and everyone pushing and fushing.Let Carnival take your luggage off just as fast. Oh we was on the Holiday out of New Orleans

I can't imagine how you brave people take little enough luggage that you can *carry* it for a 7 day cruise. I suppose I can see it on a 3 or 4 day, but.....

I was in no hurry to leave the ship and would have stayed longer. I sat and enjoyed my last minutes onboard AND I didn't have to carry my own luggage.

Yes, the Sensation is doing it. There is pushing and shoving to get off either way. Just make sure you can carry/roll all your luggage off yourselves at one time. There is no going back for a second trip.

No not really. It is not only for short cruises. Last year I was on a 9 day cruise on the Legend from nyc and they did that to. We did not but I would say about 30% to 40% of passengers did this. It is an advantage in nyc because can you imagine trying to get a cab in midtown in rush hour in the morning with 2000 people from your ship and if you want a harder challenge try it with 3 or 4 more ships in the old non air conditioned buildings of the nyc port. If you have 30 minute head start go for it. We had to much luggage to carry.

As far as I know you could always carry your luggage off if you wanted to. I dont want the hassle, let Carnival deal with it.

I think it is all Carnival ships and all home ports. It was offered on the Victory in MIA for my 3/28 cruise. I, too think its a royal pain to have to schlep even my wheeled case up, down and generally all around. Remember the up down to board. Its the same for debarcation.

I am now confused. Is this still optional, or is it mandatory that you carry your bags off of the ship ?

Its definatley optional.. IMO it's going to be a long time before its mandatory for your to carry your bags off, its just some ships are now offering it for your convenience.

We just returned from the 5-10-04 sailing on the Sensation from Tampa. They were to start letting people off at about 8:30 AM, handicapped, and self assist (to carry all your bags off yourself). There was probably about 200 people out of a full ship of 2200 that opted to do this. However, we were delayed by immigration until just after 9:30. We got to wait in the Fantasia lounge, nice cushioned loungs seats, and still got off first. When we got to the exit of the ship, they had also started to call by the colored luggage tags, I believe because of the delay. Carnival apologized for the delay, and everyone was patient, and there was no pushing that we saw. It is a great way to get off the ship as one of the first ones, so if you have something else planned to do that day.

Hope this helps.
