Extra Expenses on Elation

This is our families first cruise departing from Galveston July 18 on the Elation. I am 38, wife is 34 two sons 13 & 7. I am curious about the extra expenses involved in a cruise. Outside of the tips and gratuities on board, in your opinion, how much money should we be prepared to spend. I am thinking about $3,000 would cover it??

$3000 should be more than enough. This single spends closer to $300. All will be covered except for liquor/soft drinks/excursions/gifts/Internet. Anything you buy ashore isn't included.

My husband and I and three of our children cruised for a week on the Inpiration. We booked all of our shore excursions except for one, the Sea Trek, independently. My husband and I aren't big drinkers and our sign and sail was $1,400, which included our tips. Hope this helps.

My husband and I went on our Honeymoon in Feb this year. We posted everything on our Amex and the total was about $2600. Please don't laugh.

We spent about 1500 in Cozumel on jewelry. We also spent about $500 at the art auctions and the rest on souveniers, gratuities, casino, etc. Remember your grat is $10 per person, per day, plus any additional that you decide to give to diferent people. The last night at dinner you are reminded that your maitre d is not included in the $10 per day so people usually bring cash in an envelope to dinner that night and give it to him.
