Does Carival usually offer a tour to the Tulum Ruins from it's stop in Cozumel?

Yes, it is a standard and a very good tour BTW to see a beautiful Mayan ruin and learn a great deal about their history.

24 cruises and counting!

My family and I are considering that excursion when we're there in December. We're all none-too-athletic (to put it mildly!) and are concerned about the amount of walking required. Any input on how demanding it is?

It was $75 or $90 our last cruise there. I cant remember with one. Our friends just went on it in March and really enjoyed it. There pictures were really good. Its a long tour, about 7 to 8 hours.

With Carnival:

Mayan Ruins of Tulum
Duration: 7 hours
Price per adult: $79.00 - child: $39.00
Activity level: Moderate

In ancient times, the Mayans developed a paradise kingdom that rose high
above the magnificent crystal blue Caribbean Sea. Three towering walls and
a steep cliff protect this ceremonial center. This walled city was given the
honorary name of Tulum. Your adventure begins with a 40-minute ferry ride to
Playa del Carmen where you will board an air-conditioned bus for your inform-
ative one-hour ride to Tulum. Your guide will give an informative narration
on the Yucatan and the Mayan culture during the ride to Tulum. Once you arrive
at the ruins, your guide will escort you through the walled Mayan city and
give you the history and significance of this site. Visit the castle that is
situated on a 40' bluff, the Temple of the Frescos known for its detailed
carved figures of original paints and writings, the Temple of the Descending
God, the House of the Chultun and the House of the Columns. Don't forget to
view the breathtaking Caribbean Sea from the towering cliff that separates
the land from the sea. Once your tour of the ruins is complete, you will make
your way back to Playa del Carmen where a private ferry awaits to transport
you back to Cozumel. Note: The Mexican government will collect $10 USD from
guests wishing to take a video camera into the ruins. No tripods or profess-
ional video equipment are permitted. This tour is not recommended for wheel-
chair guests or those with walking difficulties. It is recommended that you
wear comfortable clothing and comfortable shoes. A light snack is included.
There will be an optional drop-off in downtown Cozumel for those of you who
wish to shop before returning to the ship; in this case, you will be respon-
sible for your transportation from downtown to the ship.
