I am sailing on Triumph in August.
I understand that the tips are automatically charged to your sign & sail card.
If I choose to remove the tips at the begining of the cruise......do I still
have the option of charging them back to my sign and sail at the end of the cruise?
Or do I get stuck having to pay cash in the little envelopes ?
If you've opted to assign a credit card to your S & S purchases you will receive a total-to-date statement about mid way through your cruise. This will show the total for tips to date as well. On the eve of your last day you will get a final statement. If you agree with all the charges on your statement you can do nothing and Carnival will debit your credit card.
However, if you wish to adjust the tips (up or down) or dispute a specific charge or advance some money (I do my Travelers checks) towards your balance, you should do this immediately after receiving your statement.
Beware, that if you wished your head waiter for example to receive an extra $20 in tips. By adding it to your S & S card does not guarantee he will receive it. In this case use the envelopes (or the money in the palm handshake).
You will receive an envelope for tipping the maitre'd. He is not included with the auto tip system. This is totally ar your discretion. Also, all bar staff are taken care of from the 15% alcohol tip on each drink.
Okay, so we know who is included in the $10 per day tip that is charged to the S&S, and also the 15% that is charged to the S&S for drinks. Now, for those not covered under the auto tips: the maitre'd, the room service people, and the baggage people. Is there anybody else that is not included that we may need to tip?
