Re: Beaches:Trunk Bay vs. Megans Bay? St. Thomas vs. St. Joh
Maegens is in fact a beautiful stretch of Beach. Draw backs are crowd, cost (there is a small admission fee) cost of food and rentals vendors are a franchise in the park and exclusive therefore expensive, no good snorkelling at all.
Trunk Bay has nice facilities and good snorkelling. Drawbacks are time and cost to get there. Cab, ferry, cab in each direction.
Papa is recommending Coki Beach or Saphire Beach on St Thomas.
Both are a short cab ride away. Both are lovely beaches with complete facilities and rentals available. Both have decent snorkelling off the beach. Coki is adjacent to Coral World which is a paid attraction if the family is into that type of thing. They are public beaches with no admission charges. Vendors are private and costs are lower due to competition.

thanks, I think we went to Coki beach last time, and although we liked it, just thought to try something else but I will take your advice. Maybe will try Sapphire...love that name.

I would recommend Cinnamon Bay which is the next one east of Trunk Bay. Trunk is where all the cruise ship excursions go to. Cinnamon is almost empty and actually has better snorkeling. Take the ferry from Red Hook.
