Default Difference in onboard entertainments on Canada cruises?

Hi everyone - I posted a similar post in the Canada/New England forum, but thought I might get a better response over here. This might be a dumb question, but I have to ask..
I am on the Victory to New England/Canada and I have been reading all the great, fun onboard entertainment that goes on on the ships, but I am worried that there will be a difference in onboard entertainment if we are not cruising the Caribbean or similar destination.
I have heard (and its got me very scared) that the average age on this type of cruise is around 55 years old and it seems that if that is the case, there wouldnt really be a "party atmosphere" like has been described on many other cruises. We are in our 20's and while we arent looking for a booze cruise by any means, we would certainly like some fun on board especially at night. I dont want to be the only ones in the clubs or have big band music played in the bars (someone told me this is what they experienced).

So, for anyone who has done both types of cruises, can you help calm my fears or have I made a big mistake in my choice of itinerary?

I've been on cruises to the Caribbean, Mexico, and Alaska. When I went to Alaska on the Carnival Spirit, I was kind of afraid of the same thing. However, while there were more older people, there were still lots of people my age to hang out with. And nightlife was great too. It depends a lot on the cruiseline and ship, and you can pretty much be guaranteed a good time no matter where you go on the Carnival Victory.

we came back from the miracle in canada on the 12th, and there wasn't a difference in the entertainment between the caribbean and that cruise, although there did seem to be a larger amount of older people.

I'm sorry to tell you this but,

It is Geritol City. Just think you'll have the whole late seating dinning room to yourself (as well as late breakfast.
No lineups at the casino ofter 9:30pm.
Midnite buffet will be fantastic. Most people that age don't (can't ) swim, so you'll have the pool to yourself.
You can attend the "Tops Optional" anywhere poolside (at that age their sight is very poor anyway)
Karaoke will be a blast for all those current hits.

I wish I were sailing instead of you.

Okay the first 2 answers I rather liked, and I really hope that Fabrizzi is just being mean...for whatever reason...

Hi Carey,

I think that Fabrizzi is doing a little "tongue in cheek" sarcasm.

I have friends (young) who just returned from a Canada/New England cruise from NYC and they loved it. They found that there were a lot of others their age and the ports were exciting (all though not as warm).

You'll have a wonderful time - Fabrizzi said it right, I wish it were me travelling rather than you!

Enjoy!

Darn Carey,

I'm almost 60 but Ican party with the best of them. Better yet I'm on the phone now with Travelocity and have beat my 8A balcony cabin down to $1896.74. Thats what you need to do to.

Congats on the bargaining with Travelocity, J.J....As you probably know there is nothing better than a good party and a great attitude to keep you feeling and acting young!

I am sure we will have fun no matter who our shipmates are, but I'm thinking that we will have a good group just based on most of the people on the Cruisemates board - if most people who cruise are like you folks, then I'll be just fine.

Tracy - want to try to stowaway in my huge luggage? You'll just have to buy me some clothes in the ports as a trade off

Thanks everyone.

sounds more than fair to me Carey - I'll be sure to start limering up now so that I can strike my most pretzle-like yoga pose (so I can scrunch down and fit into your luggage) and we'll enjoy some nice shopping in port!
