Default Help us decide

Going to take a 4 night cruise in Dec, trying to decide bw Carnival
Fascination which goes to Cozumel and Key West and Majesty which goes
to Key West, Nassau and cococay. Both are same exact price, we're 4
college guys. What do you all recommend?

and which has cheaper drinks?

most important stuff: fun, ages of other passengers, size of room,
snorkeling.

Thanks!

Carnival will probably be the better choice for you.
Of course due to the rowdiness in the past of certain passengers, there has to be someone over 24 or 25 on your booking.....I'm not sure exactly.
The average age is probably gonna be younger on CCL, and they always have plenty of bars and lounges. Carnival also has much larger rooms.
Your age is probably the deciding factor here. CCL permits drinking at 21, no bookings without someone over 24. Other lines may be less strict.

I went on the Fascination in April and had an absolute blast... There were 6 of us ages 14, up to 67... There were severals ages on the ship but a lot of young 20's and early 30's... The disco was very happening every night and security was VERY lax... There were several girls under the age of 21 in there drinking every night... Carnival is definitely "THE FUN SHIPS" Go for it... You will not regret it... There were alot of singles also, both male and female...
I was cleaning out my desk tonight and came across all my bar tab receipts... Imagine that!
A domestic beer is $3.25 + 15% gratuity .49 $3.74
Cigs $3.25
Daily special $6.25
Fun Ship refill on daily special $4.95 + .74 grat $5.69 total
Large bottle of spring water $3.25
Bloody Mary (large) $8.50 + 1.25 grat. $9.78 That one hurt but so did my head!
Blue Margarita and Ultimate Suntan $3.95 (Each) + .59 grat $4.54 total
A bottle of Cabernet at dinner was $30.00 some were less, some were more...
My bar bill for 3 days was about $250.00 but that included buying drinks for people I met in the disco and my cousin by the pool....
The beers and the refills on the daily specials are pretty reasonable...
Have fun!

RCI allows you to drink beer and wine at 18 with parental permission.

I've been on both and I would go on the Majesty because you get the private island (Coco Cay)...However if I were you, I would follow these boards very closely and see where folks in your age group are cruising in December...remember it's quality not quanity that counts (yea right, you can tell it's been a while since I was 24 (smile)

Guys,
We have been on both ships. The Majesty's food and service are not great to say the least.
Fascination's food is wonderful, service is great, and it is bright, lively, active, and fun.
The Majesty is dull and boring. We are in our 40's and don't plan on cruising with RCCL
again. Too stuffy.
Happy Sailing................

thanks for all the info. We're all 21 so np with regards to getting on or having a 25 yr old with us.

I'd like Cococay on RCL but the age and fun seem better on carnival

well good luck with your selection ? I think when all is said and done you probably won't go wrong with either selection..Would it not be funny if both ships were in key west at the same time and you found out that a large group (100 or more) single females between the ages of 18-25 booked on the OTHER ship (smile)..Carnival lives off the perception of being a party cruise line so it becomes somewhat of a self fulfilling situation but RCL depending upon the age groups on board could be fun also

A question for you? Is Key West the first port or CocoCay on RCCL?

I'm asking because private islands are where you can meet and can socialize a lot with other passengers on your ship. We met and befriended others by playing volleyball, laying on the beach, etc. We STILL keep in contact with the people we met on the private island 15 years later! It was the FIRST stop on our cruise. I don't think it would have worked out that way if it was the LAST stop.

You have to have someone 25 yrs. old in the cabin in order to book a cabin. Do you know someone you could invite along who is at least 25?

If you are 21 or over, you can book a cabin on your own.
