Default Type of shoes in the dining room?

My 19 year old daugther asked me what kind of shoes she can wear on non-formal nights in the dining room. She is planning on wearing several of those cute short skirts and tops that teens wear nowadays, but isn't into wearing heels. She is very tall and just hates feeling like "frankenstein" (in her words). She is wondering if it is acceptable to wear just plain flat flip-flops? Or should she get some low-heeled sandal type shoes?

My experience has been that anything goes. They do not allow shorts, but I have seen every mix of everything else. She will be fine.

Hi KK,
Either of those types of shoes will be fine. If I'm wearing a skirt or sun type dress I'll wear a pair of sandals, not a problem. Just remember, no shorts in the dining room for dinner, breakast and lunch its OK though.

She'll be sitting at a table no one will see her feet wear the flip flops. The flip flop these days are a long way from the old "shower shoe" variety. I think the new styles are very cute.

Some cute sandals would be fine. If they are cute flip flops that would be good.
