Possible problems w/cave tubing in Belize

My 24 yr-old son got pretty sick after going on cave tubing excursion in Belize in July. Has anyone else had this problem? It showed up 3 days or so after the excursion. His symptoms were loss of weight, stomache (no upchucking though), fever for first week, sore throat, & blisters near the one side of his mouth. We don't know if it was from water or Belize food after tubing. We think it had to be excursion, he was with us the rest of the cruise, and no one else in family is sick! He had a great time, but he's still paying for it (2 wks now). We're not trying to scare anyone, just seeing if anyone else had problem. We were in Belize on July 9. Thanks!

I'd be having him get to the DR - not necessarily something from the water but maybe some local food/sanitary conditions - typhoid fever? (not to be hysterical - but geeze)

We have done the cave tubing, and had no problem. I would have him go to the
doctor. Did anything bite him in the water? We didnt eat any food, we booked private and all voted to go straight to ship and not stop for food. Hope he feels better.

Been to the cave tubing excursion with a number of family and friends and did the ships tour with lunch and never had a problem. Also haven't heard of anyone else having a problem. Your son needs to see a Dr and have him run tests to find out what the problem is/was.
