Default Triumph question

We are on the Triumph July 31, Eastern Caribbean. One port is Puerto Rico and it is in the evening. We are planning on going to dinner and then getting off the ship. Will the dress be casual (like first night on ship) or dressy?
Also, what about the last night of the cruise when we put our luggage in the hall? How do we dress then?
This is our first cruise.
Thanks!

footballmom, we just got back from the Triumph,7-24. 1st question: they had an open sitting time form 6:30 to 8:30 for dinner, that means you will be seated anywhere and not in your assigned table. The dress was casual, they know people are coming and going, shorts were ok, just signs up for no tank tops.

2nd question: you have until midnight to get your bags out into the hallway. We dressed casual, don't forget to take out clothes for departure day, there was a story that someone and packed all thier clothes and had pj's on the last day.lol. Hope this helps, any other questions you can email me. Paul

Just remember that "casual" to the ship means NO SHORTS. The first night they allow shorts because chances are not everyone has their luggage delivered to their cabins in time for dinner. (No tank tops are ever acceptable as Firekiller stated.) Each night at dinner they will tell you what the dress code will be for the next evening.

The last night is "casual", remember: No Shorts . If I can be of further help don't hesitate to ask me either. I just returned from the Triumph 7/10 - 7/17. (Western), although it was our 5th cruise.

Football Mom: Regarding the last night for dinner. I forgot to tell you, here's what we do and alot of other people:

We dressed for dinner (casual: slacks, capris, NO SHORTS). After dinner we changed back into our shorts (or whatever we planned on wearing on the plane). Your luggage, as Firekiller stated, has to be put it in the hallway by midnight. We just kept a small carryon in our cabin for pj's, health & beauty essentials, valuables, etc. OH YES, clean undies too !!! !!!! Carried that around with us the next morning waiting for dembarkation. Plan on eating breakfast on the ship, 'cause you'll have plenty of time. I believe you have to be out of your cabin by 9 am at the latest. ('Cause they have to clean for the next guests.) Once cleared by customs they will dismiss you according to deck level. They started with 12 on ours and worked down.

Regarding luggage: You will get to see your luggage again the next morning because you have to claim it down in customs. They will have everyones luggage sorted according to decks, so it's important to leave your carnival colored luggage tags on.
It will be a large warehouse type area. Even though you have your tags on you will still have to look through ALOT of luggage to find yours!! (HINT: I placed cheap Hawaiian orange and yellow plastic leis around the handles of all our luggage and that made it much easier to locate. I just wrapped them around the handles, however you can use anything you want (I just saw those in the store for about 15 cents each and it worked). Just make sure it's something that will stay on, BUT WILL SHOW UP, so you can locate yours fairly easily. Also have your hand in your pocket, because the porters will be there to assist you, whether it be to a bus to the airport or wherever. Hope this helped.

Don't want to scare you, however you need to be careful in Puerto Rico in the evening. When we were there 2 years ago (Paradise) where we docked didn't appear to be the safest place. To be honest with you we just went across the street to the casino because there were homeless people laying on the street, drunks, etc. right where we had to walk by. I just wanted you to be aware of your surroundings. I can't honestly remember if they mentioned anything to us about the safety off the ship so I'm letting you know what we found. (During the day I can't really say because we were only there in the evening. Not sure what your itinerary is.)

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that you attend the meetings they have on board regarding each port. They give you lots of info, even if it's just one person in your party. (If for some reason you can't attend they usually have it on the tv in your cabin, and I highly recommend you listen to EACH talk for EACH port.

You should always be aware of your surroundings. Even during the day in Puerto Rico, or any of the islands, etc. I've been to Puerto Rico twice, once during the day and once during the evening. The first time we did the Rum factory tour and did just a little bit of shopping near the ship, and right inside the lobby thing when you first get off the ship. The second time I was there,, just last year, we didn't set up any tours. We went on our own. We got there early evening so it was still light out when we got there and we just walked a little further into town for some shopping. Once the evening starting rolling in, and we were hungry for dinner, we just got back on the ship cleaned up a bit and had a burger and some fries from the grill. Then it was dark by then and we went back out, we went to Senor Frogs for a drink which is just a couple blocks from the ship, not far. And did a little more shopping near the ship before boarding to depart.

But it looks like everyone else had answered your questions you had, footballmom, so there's just a couple of hints or ideas for you. So HAVE FUN!! Its a great cruise. You chose an awesome ship and great itinerary for a first cruise, great job. As a matter of fact, I am attaching a picture of the Triumph that I took while in San Juan, Puerto Rico. So take a look! :-)

Oh, and just one more thing, if you want too see a few more pictures that I have posted from my Triumph Cruise, you can view them by clicking on Photo Galleries then, do a search for : Spring Break 2003

Oh thank you so much Paul, Pam and Kim!!
Paul, glad to know about the open seating and that we can wear shorts when we go to Puerto Rico.

Pam, glad they tell you the dress code for the next night! Like your idea about changing into shorts and then wearing them the next day. Thought the bags had to be out before supper so glad to hear it is by midnight. Love the lei idea! I will definitely go to the port talks.

Kim and Pam, I will be careful where we go. So you think going to Senor Frog and casino after dark would be okay if we are careful?

Kim, thanks for telling me I picked a good cruise. You know, that was a really tough decision to make!! Loved your pictures—esp. the one looking down at the ships in St. Thomas.

So, thanks again everyone!!
