all i can say about that cruise is
wow...
i had the most fantastic time of my life. definitely the best vacation ever. now, keep in mind that i'm kinda young so i don't really have the same criteria as some of you other more experienced cruisers do. all i really base it on is how much fun i had.
getting onto the ship took longer than i had remembered from my other two cruises..but it wasn't bad because me and my cousins were all so excited so we were talking non stop, which definitely made it go a lot quicker. we got up to the little desk people who check your tickets/passports and the guy said that he wasn't supposed to let me, my sister, and my cousin on the ship because minors are not supposed to share a room! that was a surprise because my grandma's travel agent told her that there should be no problem with that..so hmm go figure..but he said that he would let us on, thank god..when i first got onto the ship it was pretty much what i had expected. like, it didn't take my breath away. still, it was nice. we waited for our luggage for a while..the weather was bad, so that day was ehh. not much fun. but we <3ed our room!
monday was rainy and blehh..and being woken up by
rolling off the bed was pretty fun. all of our makeup and bottles and brushes started sliding off the counter. thank god i was still halfway asleep, because if i was completley awake i would have screamed and might of had a heart attack myself..so i heard about all the liquor being smashed on the ground in the shops, all of the money falling down in those games in the casino where you have to push the coins to the edge in order to win it, and the strawberry shortcake in the bakery was turned upside down (so of course my uncle tried to buy it for 1/2 price..). i was the only one in my family that was completley unaffected by the rockiness. most of them had to lie down for a while, but i never felt it at all. the best part of that day was formal night. it was so yucky outside, so my and my sister and cousin started getting ready like 3 hours ahead of time. the dinner was really nice, everyone looked good. i met 3 people from this board at dinner..i know one of them was vxin cause i recognized her from her picture, and i also met 2 others but i don't remember what their board names were but i remember their faces..so help me out if you're them lol.
the third day was sunny - lots of fun. me and my sister and cousin skipped dinner so we could go to the teen disco. we hated having the late seating because we had to rush through dinner in order to make in it time to get to the disco when it was open just for teens. the disco was so fun though - its where we met almost all of the friends we made. we went around meeting/talking to lots of people that didn't really stick with us, too.
out of the 3 ports, st. thomas was my favorite by
far. we got a taxi and our driver kenneth was so nice and told us a lot about the island. he took us to magens bay for a few hours, which was unbelievably beautiful, and then we went shopping and got some good stuff. puerto rico reminded me of nyc too much, just with purple buildings and skinny cats running around everywhere. and the natives called at you in spanish instead of english. i met some older guys later on the cruise that told me about senor frogs..i don't know how i missed it, but apparently there were 12 year olds with beers there, lol. not that my dad would have ever let me, but maybe it was worth a shot. tortola was very nice. we went to the beach and watched the pelicans dive into the water..very entertaining.
we ended up liking dinner because we absolutley loved our assistant waiter elder. he was so fun..even when we saw him around the ship he would high five us and come over and make tissue flowers or just ask how we liked the ports. i liked the food, and i was proud of myself that i always ordered off of the normal menu, unlike my other cousin who got pizza every night. i liked the food from the unicorn cafe the best though, especially the grill. those cheeseburgers were soo good. one more note about the food - it was one of the last nights, and for dessert they had chocolate cake..i forget exactly what they called it, by oh my god it was sooo good. i asked for it the next night but they said they didn't have any! lol sorry i was just obsessed with that cake.
i watched the hairy chest competition and i know what guy everyone is talking about. sad that that had to happen, but still we got an extra day out of it so i don't think anyone minded too much. i had a premonition that something like that would happen, so when i was getting ready for dinner and heard that annoucement, i was really freaked out. but happy at the same time. the conversation at dinner that night was conspiracy theories of why we were really going to bermuda. i didn't hear about that girl who hit her head, but i can see how she did, and i'm surprised that there weren't more people who did the same. those floors were sooo slippery! that is my #1 complaint about the cruise. i always wore my old navy flip flops, and if you have them you know that there is zero traction on the bottom of those things. i almost fell about 10 times, but luckily i never did. eventually i just ended up taking off my shoes and walking barefoot.
our main hangouts were the arcade (which had a lot of good games), the card room (lots of old maid and bs), and the firebird lounge (kareoke was very entertaining). oh, and of course the top deck at night. they stacked the chairs up there, so we would all hop up on them and just look at the stars. i hope i'll stay in touch with the people i met..lots of them live pretty close so hopefully we'll even be able to hang out some time. the 3 girls who were our next door neighbors were from wisconsin though, so i doubt we'll be seeing them again =( i almost cried a few times saying goodbye to everyone, but i never did. aww. now i'm getting all sad again..i feel like i've been off that ship for a year, even though its been less than a day, or i feel like it was all a dream..i still feel like i'm swaying back and forth a little though, so that's nice.
and yeah..debarkation was insane, but eventually we made it out of there. once we got back home, my aunt realized that she was missing a bag, so they had to go all the way back. but luckily they found it without a problem. that wasn't a nice way to end the whole experience, but we got through it. i feel like i skipped over so much! so many good memories though =) i hope everyone else had as good a time as i did.
i didn't mean to type all that, it just came out lol..
