Balcony Doors

Question:
I have read suggestions for keeping the balcony doors open. Bungie cords, duct tape,
rope??? What should I bring. We want to have our door open a lot. We have a cabin
on the Verandah deck on the Sensation.
Thanks,
Happy Sailing.............

Re: Balcony Doors

Our doors on the Voyager of the Seas, stayed open just fine all by themselves. Also, on our last Disney cruise.

This is the CARNIVAL board, and the poster was asking about a balcony door on the "Sensation". The doors opening on to the balconies on Carnival ships are not sliding doors - like on Royal Caribbean or Disney ships.

On our ship, the Pride, we had those white plastic deck chairs on the balcony. We used one of them as a wedge to keep the door open. Bungee cord or rope should be fine as a backup.

I take a bungee cord, hook one end on the door handle the other on the cross brace of the balcony. Keeps the door open just fine. The air conditioning will not work with the door open so it gets kind of hot and humid in the cabin.

I read somewhere in these wonderful threads to bring a magnet and use it on the connection in the door jam and the air conditioner will stay on. Has anyone done this and does it really work?

If you're not cold-natured, I think you'll find with the doors open, it's going to get mighty hot and humid in your room. The ocean air fills good, but its still hot.
I'm hot natured, and the wife is going through menopause, so the colder the better ! lol !

But yes, take you a bungie cord. They work great.

Happy cruising;
