Smoking on Balconies?

Just wondering if smoking is permitted on cabin balconies? If it is, does anyone know if the smoke travels to other nearby balconies? I am specifically referring to cigar or pipe smoke. Just wondering if someone's smoke from a neighboring balcony blows up and away in the sea air or does it linger nearby. Just curious. Thanks!

smoking is permitted. If it bothers you you may want to look into getting the first balcony from the bow. You will never smell anyone's smoke. Wind will carry the smoke smell towards the back of the ship.

Yes, I'm sad to say that the smoke will spoil your balcony air as well. All you can do is hope that your neighbors are non-smokers.

Unfortunately not only can the smoke float over to your balcony but if your cabin door is open, It can go inside as well. Yuck!

Is it permitted in rooms? For a variety of reasons I hope it isn't.

With no air circulation I would think that the smell of smoke would get stuck in rooms and those of us who (and while I am a non-smoker, I know many smokers who get non-smoking rooms and smoke outside only as they don't prefer the smell of lingering stagnant smoke in their room) don't like that would have to just deal with it.

(making note to self to check responses - may want to invest in a bottle of Febreze just in case - air fresheners, in my experience, don't do near enough)

Yes you can smoke in your room. Yes you can smoke on your balcany. I never had a problem with my balcony neighbor smoking. I guess the wind was blowing right,lol. Also with the ship cruising at 17-18 knots, helps a bunch too.
Also, on every cruise we've been on, our room has smelt clean and fresh.

Thanks to everyone for your responses. Didn't know what the rules and regulations for smoking were. Does anyone know if cigar smoking is permitted? Cigars are a little stronger and the smoke can carry a bit further. Just curious. Thanks!

Mick, usually only in one specified lounge (if you're lucky) and otherwise have to be up on deck.

The Boss and I are non-smokers. We don't mind smokers, but we would never take a smoking room at a hotel because they "reek". How is it that the cabins never smell from smoking?

i dunno, but with 3 kids & 2 dogs, i need whatever they use to deodorize!

We were on the Zuiderdam & the cabin in front of ours had a cigar smoker ...... we occasionally did smell it, but thank goodness it wasn't too often. He wasn't out much and we were grateful. Our room never smelled at all, not sure what they use; but it works very well. Cathy

Perfect solution for us who enjoy breathing in that clean sea air instead of 2nd hand smoke was the PARADISE! Now Carnival is doing away with that clean air option. Too bad!!!
