We are! BIg family, bringing lots of kids, ranging from 2 years old to 16. First cruise for some, some have been before. We are very excited about Jax as a port and are looking forward to many cruises in the future.
Cool, Deedle! We sailed out of Jax back in April. It was great! On the ship by 12:00 noon. Bags in our cabin by the time we set sail at 4:00. Came back with no problems. Friendly staff in port, despite some rather obnoxious guests in the crowd.
Chefkel, I'll be sure to submit a full review when we return.

On the ship by noon! I am loving that, I had read somewhere that you couldn't board until 1:30, so we re planning on arriving about 1pm. Guess I'll talk to the gang and move our plans up, we want to have as much time as possible on the ship.
I think going under the Dames Point will be really cool, what did you think about that?
Dames Point was AWESOME! Although, I was on the much-larger Miracle at the time, and there was only about 3-5 feet clearance! You could hear everyone on deck gasp as we went under the bridge.
It was fun to watch, though. In fact, I felt compelled to get up extra early when we were coming back to Jax, just so I could see the ship go under the bridge again. :-)

We might have to get up on early on the return as well. My aunt was in Jax yesterday and saw the ship heading out, so she is all excited about the cruise again. That is really something to see. I can't wait!
Time to get ready for the storm
Hope we have great weather (I'd be happy even with so-so weather.
Miracle was WONDERFUL! Very big, lots to do, and clean! Balcony rooms on this ship are well worth springing for, if your budget allows. The staff was excellent, too! The ship was sold out, but never felt too crowded.
I have a review posted in the Reader Reviews section of this website as well.

Quick question, my aunt tends to spoil my kids (ages 4 & 7). She is concerned that she won't be able to have little "treats"in her purse while on the ship unless she stocks up ahead of time. She is looking for any info on what she might be able to pick up while on board. Any ideas, suggestiuons, etc? And yes, she is my favorite aunt, I am thrilled beyond belief to be cruising with her!
Are you looking for food "treats" or toy "treats"? If it's food treats, then your aunt need not worry. There are always PLENTY of desserts and snacks around, including an ice cream sundae social hour.
On my last cruise, I noticed room service delivering cookies, milk, and hot chocolate for the kids before bedtime. The kids were thrilled when they opened the door! I think they were even arguing over who got to hand over the tip.
I haven't been on the Celebration yet, but one of the shops on the Miracle had plenty of candy and toys, including beanie babies. The library had some basic games to lend as well.
For more family fun, might I also suggest you and your aunt take the kids on a ship-board scavenger hunt? Your list could include things like the name of a crewmember from India, a token from the arcade, a flyer from one of the shops onboard, a napkin with the Carnival logo, the room number of a cabin with a decorated door, a packet of hot chocolate, etc.
