Default Stateroom categories?

I really don't understand much about the different stateroom categories, apart from inside/outside/balcony, etc. I have booked an 8A guarantee on the Oct. 12 2005 sailing of the Liberty. That is a balcony stateroom, with a possible upgrade. I know that there are also categories 8B, 8C, and on up, but what's the difference, really?

Thanks,

Cathy

Hi Cathy,
Basically the staterooms are the same, size, etc....its just the location that is different, the higher up you go, the higher the price is, so its considered an upgrade....also most ships fill midship first. When booking a cabin, I try to look at what is above and below me, like it best when I have cabins and not a restaurant, etc.

The higher the letter, the higher the deck [within a given category]. The exception is 1a.

Kim1319,

We have an 8C, extended balcony, located on deck 4, Main. Is your post for a specific ship, class or general info? We sail the Spirit in Nov.

On the "Spirit Class" ships they have some balconies that have the "extended" balconies and they balcony is over twice the normal size. Those are 8C, 8G, and 8I. If at all possible try for one of those, they are really nice.

Thanks, everyone, for clarifying. So at least I know I'm on the upper deck or above. Actually, isn't there more ~motion~ the higher you go?

Hi Cathy,
Yes, there is a little more feeling of moving the higher you go, but nothing terrible, in fact I like it, you may too or not even tell the difference.
