In our morning paper the Pensacola News Journal there was a short story about cocaine being shipped from Honduras to Jamaica and then taken to New Orleans via a Carnival ship then driven to Tampa. I've been on both the Holiday and the Conquest I wonder which one is was. Wonder if they had inside help?
That story was on our local news this morning..and there were 52 arrested in Tampa in connection with this smuggling..all they said was that the drugs were smuggled from Jamacia to New Orleans on Carniaval's funships.
As tough as Customs is, and the extra screening that goes on, it would baffle one's mind how someone could accomplish the feat. You never know though. Criminal minds are probably capable of miraculous feats.
You'd be amazed at how many tons of illegal drugs make it to the streets in the U.S.A. It's like counting the illegal aliens in the U.S. The amount that U.S. Customs and the Coast Guard catch is only the tip of the iceberg. It's a little tougher getting them through on cruiseships only whe smugglers get too greedy and try to move too much at a given time.
The reporter who put the story in the The Pinellas Times here on the West Coast near Tampa can be reached at 813-226-3373 or email svansickler@sptimes.com Her name is Shannon Colavecchio-Van Sickler and it says you can reach the reporter that way. Maybe the reporter can tell you what ship it was. Ro
It is my understanding that the ship was the Conquest. When we were on the Conquest in January, some idiot got busted trying to smuggle 80 lbs of cocaine on the ship.
