Hi out there. I have just finalized airline reservations for the nine of us next summer , sailing on the Victory. I do believe we are going to stay at one of the hotels providing trans. from hotel to airport(we are going down to miami the day before the cruise). Now my question is, how is the transportation from ship to airport. Will we be able to get taxi quite easily and quickly? There are nine of us of course, four kids in the group. Also, our plane leaves at 1:00pm meaning we haave to be at airport at probably no later than i am thinking 11:30am to be safe if lines are long. travel agent called carnival and asked if that departure time was late enough. carnival strongly said yes no problem. traavel agent suggested i talk to pursor(not sure spelling is correct) and make him aware of this so we can be in the first group getting off the ship. also anyone know average fee of taxi to airport? How far is the airport from the ship? I hope i am not going to faint when i hear the fee. thanks patticake
Taxis are easily available from the pier to the airport and cost about $20.oo per cab. You will need 2 cabs but that is still going to be cheaper than ship transfers. Also the ride isn't that long but with ship transfers you wait for the bus to be full before it leaves and you wait at the airport for them to unload all the luggage. You should be fine getting to the airport in time a long as you are in the first group off the ship.
Be sure your bags are marked with bright color duck tape luggage straps or whatever will make them very obvious so you don;t waste time trying to find bags for that many people.
I sailed out of Miami in September, 2003. Check your hotel...the one we stayed at (we also flew in the day before departure). Some of the hotels have buses that have complimentary transportation from the airport to the hotel. We did and we stayed at a Comfort Inn. The best I can remember, there were no shortages of taxis at the airport, though.
