We have never had the same color tags getting off as we did getting on. They usually give you new tags for disembarking according to your plans, ie early flight, or tour. We usually do a ship tour and get off early. But to answer your question, I don't know the order though sorry.

I got off today and there was NO order. The people with early flights or tours got off first, then they just started calling random colors. We were upper forward (green) and upper aft got called second, and we got called 7th. It was a nightmare. They started calling colors at around 8:00 and we got called at around 11:00. Good luck.

Can you still use the self assist disembark? We were able to use it on our cruise last year.

They call the VIP and early flights and tours first, and then It might have to do with the order in which the luggage gets off the ship or all gets organized in its designated spot.

Colors don't change and you don't get new tags. Your tags are the color assigned to your deck. The only thing that changes is they call the self-assist people first, then the others later. If you ask to get off early because of an early flight, then you might be given a different color tag, if not your tag is the same one your porter put on your bags when you boarded the ship.

No you can not use the self assist anymore. I was counting on that and it never happened. You must wait for you color to be called.

Dorothy,
We have always changed our tag colors for disembarking on the 12 cruises we have been on. I have one of each in my memory books. How it was explained to me is...The color of tags for embarking is by the deck you are on for the luggage delivery and the color for disembarking is for luggage control in the baggage area. The ppl with early flights and tours get off early and get their luggage in their assigned color area of baggage claim, then it could go by decks but we have ALWAYS had a new color tag, even when we weren't flying or touring.

The colors are called in the order in which Customs clears the bags with that color.

Sometimes my tag color changed at the end of the cruise - sometimes it didn't.

Self assist was available on our Glory cruise last month.

Our colors never changed. They said to keep the same color you came aboard with unless you had silver which is for a guarantee cabin then you need to get the color assigned to your specific cabin/deck. I am sure it is not the same on every ship, so maybe someone who has recently cruised your same ship/itinerary should answer your question.

Colors never changed on the Glory a few weeks ago, or the Fantasy in January, CA. I noticed you haven't sailed Carnival since the Glory in 2003 - maybe they have changed their policy since then.

Maybe so Dorothy. I'll let you know in November after sailing the Spirit. We are driving so will probably be the last off anyway.

Just came back from Carnival Triumph 2 weeks ago and we were given orange tags at embarkation and pink tags at disembarkation. We didn't ask to get off early so I'm sure that's not the reason for the colour change.

Also, they had self assist disembarkation available for those who wanted it.

Last May sailed the Glory. Here’s how the decks were picked, no lie. Of course the early flight guests went first. The rest went by deck numbers that were picked from a hat the night before by a cruise guest that was @ one of the information lectures. For instance I remember deck 10 going first. I was on deck 6 and we went last because our deck number was the last one picked.

Just an update: We sailed on the Spirit in November and on the 2nd to last night we were given NEW color tags for debarkation. Everyone (12) in our group received new color tags with specific instructions to remove the old ones first. The early flights passengers got off first with the assistance needed cruisers, then the VIP, Carnival Vacation Owners, then the random colors were called. Since we became VIP, we were able to get tags for all and we were off by 8:30 am. One member of the group didn't want "the experience" to be over with and his color was called last. Thank goodness he had separate travel plans.

Warning: if you have a tag that looks like a faded ORANGE, then those are YELLOW.

It is the most un-yellow yellow you could imagine. So, we waited for 'orange' to be called for 30 minutes after our 'yellow' had been called.

In the end, it paid off a little, because by the time we figured it out and went to get our luggage, ours was about the only luggage left, so it was easy to find!

Can anyone define who VIP are? Just wondering if it was a certain cabin class. All I have ever heard of previously was Skippers Club.

VIPs are cruisers who purchase the Carnival Vacation Club plans. They can only be purchased on a few ships. We just did on the Spirit and we were told they were going to start selling it on the Glory. Some benefits are guarantted embarkation in less than 10 minutes, even before the Skippers Club and 2nd group to disembark after the early flights. It can be any cabin class, just membership in the club.
