I just booked a cat. 8C on the Destiny and I did not know that once you got to cat. 8C that the balcony's on the stern of the ship are 65 sq ft vs. 45 sq ft. Has anyone had an extended balcony cabin before, and should I worry about motion on the stern of the ship?
I was upgraded to an extended balcony (8I) on the Miracle, and it was GREAT! It was towards the back of the ship, but not actually at the stern. We felt some motion one night, but the seas were rough and you couldn't avoid it no matter where you were on the ship.
You will love it!

We had an extended balcony cabin on the stern last year and loved it so much that we requested one for our next cruise. There was a slight rolling motion that we noticed but only when laying in bed and it was actually quite nice, like being rocked gently to sleep. This next cruise the only extended balcony cabin available was a lot further forward than that last time so I guess we will find out if location makes that much of a difference. To me, having that extra balcony space is worth it though.

Thanks for the info. We are booked in cabin 8334. I am excited, especially since this is our first time with a balcony. Do you know if they will still offer you an upgrade with an assigned cabin?
From my experience, you will not be offered an upgrade with an assigned cabin. I love the extended balcony and it is hard to go back to an inside. Also, I prefer starboard side to port side. I always seem to get the better views on starboard side. I always assign a cabin because I don't want to get stuck with an obstructed view or right over the engine or near the elevators or the disco. I prefer mid-ship when I can get it.
Thanks! We are in the middle of the stern of the ship. I think it will be great from what I am hearing. Our first cruise we had a GTY and only went up one floor and we were at the stern of the ship then. I thought this was best, but I was just wondering. How am I going to make it the next 287 days?
