I was there last November. We did all our sight seeing and exploring in a rented Jeep in Cozumel-- What an expierience!! Our ship docked in Calica- we took a cab ride to Playa del Carmen beach. It was great- the beach was filled! We stopped in at a restaurant, drank and people-watched. One thing is for sure- you think the drinks on the boat are pricey-- the restaurant cost at least $2 more!! Have a great time!!

We just got back from there. We were a party of 3 couples and we went into town and shopped a bit but mostly hung out at Senor' Frogs on the water. We rented two jet skis for $55 each for an hour and rode them up and down the coast line. Right by the entrance to Senor' Frogs and the pier for the ferry.

Regards,
Thomas

My grandmother, mother, and I went to Xcaret when we were docked at Calica. It was a little expensive but well worth the money. We had a great time floating down the underground river in inner-tubes. We range in age from 24 to 67 and we all found something special about Xcaret. There was a pool with huge sea turtles, a butterfly exhibit (the actual hatching), a bat cave, plus a chapel on top of a hill with an awesome wood carving of Jesus being crucified. I also think that you can swim with dolphins there, too. There are too many things to do here in one day. In addition, the beach is very nice. There are also resturaunts on the property that are fairly priced. Hope this helps.

Xcaret would definitely be my choice as well. If I had a cruise stopping there, I'd jump at chance to go back!

Just got back this weekend from Calica and Playa del Carmen. Went to Xcaret. Spent the entire day there. it is wonderful. You can do everything from viewing the animals (howling monkeys, jaguars, etc.) to swimming with the dolphins, the butterfly house is great, several shows and demonstrations of local customs and costumes, has a beach if that is what you want to do, swim, snorkel, snuba, etc., etc., etc., We ate a great lunch - local Mexican fare - the REAL thing, not Taco Bell. Two of us, $55.00 per person - money well spent. Mayan ruins and replicas there, also. It is an ecological and archealogical park, clean, HUGE and too much to do in one day. Money well spent.
