St. Maarten - great beaches, good snorkeling and great shopping. Split your day up. We like to go to the beach in the morning and shop in the afternoon. We did a really fun excursion on St. Maarten - The Golden Eagle Catamaran sail - you sail up the coast which is beautiful over to this little island (Tintamar) its a nature preserve where you can swim, relax on the beach, have a theraputic mud bath, go snorkeling - they feed the fish so the fish go nuts, they provide food & drink, a champagne toast on the way back, and they crank up the tunes and folks dance into the harbor - we had a blast!! Another really fun excursion is the America's Cup Regatta - you get to sail on an actual sailing yacht like the "Stars & Stripes" in an actual race, you crew the boat. These two trips you need to book with the cruise line. If you want a snorkel adventure book a tour over to Pineal Island. For beaches - Orient Beach is the most popular beach - lots to do, lots going on, there is a "clothing optional" section. If you want a more subdued beach head over to Dawn Beach. Both beaches can be reached by taxi. There is also a nice butterfly farm in Marigot if that interests you.
For shopping if you shop on the Dutch Side take the water taxi into town for $5.00 unlimited all day. For the French Side you will need to take a cab.
Martinique - good beaches - its volcanic sand so its on the dark side. Snorkeling was just so-so. Great outdoor cafes and a huge outdoor market - its kind of like a Flea Market, just wander around. Martinique was very very hot when we went in January

When you board, the buffet is open. After checking our room, the buffet is the next place we go!

Martinique is one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean. It is very lush. I recommend renting a car and drive to St. Pierre, cross to the middle of the island (maybe even go to Souffriere), then come back down the island through the middle valleys. Lots of pretty places to stop and sight see
