INSURANCE

I've taken 6 cruises and have always taken the trip insurance. I guess I believe the horror story of the $10000. evacuation cost if you become sick at sea. Has anyone here used the insurance...for anything? Lost luggage, missed flights, damaged luggage, missed ships or anything else. Did your event come to a satisfactory conclusion? I know the cost can really vary ($25. to $100 or more} of course depending on the cruise. Do you cruisers think its worth the money.

Re: INSURANCE

We have always purchased insurance too with CSA and after 12 cruises we just used it this past August. We were caught in Hurricane Frances and enjoyed 2 extra days at sea but missed our fight and had to spend the night at a hotel. I turned in my claim for 1 night hotel with receipt and 2 meals at $25 each with no receipt. I received a check less than 3 weeks later. I know many do not believe in it but just the one time we decide not to purchase it the worse would probably happen! I like to gamble but not that much. I always figure it is part of the cruise just like the tips.

Re: INSURANCE

We too have been purchasing CSA insurance for years and last year had to make a medical claim. After our regular insurance paid what they would, I simply sent them copies of the payments along with their form which I filled out and it was paid in full within 10 days, so it was promt and no hassles. You just have to make sure you have all the paperwork and call and get a claim form from them, then no problem.

I think paying the price of travel insurance is a small price to pay in case you have some emergency or delay, plus the piece of mind by having it.

Re: INSURANCE

can you get it just for the parents and not for the kids?

Re: INSURANCE

CA and Donna: Thanks for your input. I think I'll just continue to purchase the insurance and like mentioned I always felt it was part of the cost.

Hi Duke,
Good idea, keep purchasing the insurance and hope you never need it.....once you don't have it, you'll need it. Best to be safe.

Re: INSURANCE

we too took out the csa insurance. We had to change flights due to the Hurricane. Cant remember the name, there were so many of them this summer. I never sent in a claim. I wonder if it is too late and part of the flight is covered since we had to re-book the flight and not out of florida but out of atlanta.

I'll put a different spin on it. We have never purchased it and have never needed it. Soooo....I hope that continues.
