My question is for those of you who have purchased travel insurance. Who/What company did you buy it from? Would buying it through my TA be a good idea? I haven't purchased insurance before on previous cruises and I've been just fine. Just want to know what my options are.

I too would suggest insuremytrip.com. IMHO most of the policies offered there cost less and have more generous converage than those I've seen offered by cruiselines & T/A's.
I've been using CSA for the last few cruises and even had to make a claim on the last cruise, they paid promptly and in full, I couldn't complain. I've also purchased more for the next cruise from CSA as well. Its always nice to have, and hope you don't need to use it.
Those that have used insuremytrip, how long did it rake to get your policy in the mail? I booked 7 days ago, and have not received mine yet. The policy had a 10 day cancellation, but I can't yet review it to cancel it, if need be.
When we booked through Best Price Cruises , we used the insurance they offered (Trip Assured) & actually had to use it due to a death in the family on the day before we were to cruise. The refund process was not difficult. We are looking into booking a cruise in September 05 & have discovered that they now have "change your mind" insurance in addition to regular policies(for a nominal fee) which provides an 80% coverage voucher for a future cruise if you have to cancel for reasons that are not normally covered through regular travel insurance.
I also used insuremytrip.com, received a very good price for insurance and purchased it within 14 days of putting a deposit on my next cruise. Because of this I received a preexisting condition waiver and I received my 14 page policy via email within a hour and printed it from my computer.
I used insuremytrip.com too. Here is the deal from my perspective.
You can cancel the cruise reservations , with a full refund, up to final payment(Carnival-about 70 days prior to cruise). Insurance is not refundable, even though you canceled during the full cruise fare refund period. So I usually buy insurance when final payment is made. If you have pre-existing conditions however, buy insuance within the window when you book the cruise. Airline tics, I take my chances with. I can always pay to reschedule my air.
OH. I have canceled a trip insurance policy after reading the fine print, with little problems. Just explain when the policy arrived in the mail.
