My sister's cabin was concidered obstructed view you could look strait out and to the sides but if you looked down you saw the top of the life boat, they thought it was great if the ship started going down they just had to climb over the balcony (my brother in law has a way of making any situation funny)

We looked at the obstructed on the Spirit las Jan. and decided to go with the balcony instead...for a few dollars more we had a great view of the ocean on the 4th deck and even got to see a humpback whale submerge about 40 yards off the ship. Would have missed it with a an obstructed view.
We are forever hooked on balcony cabins. Although price is always a consideration, I'll just cut corners somewhere else because the balcony cabins are....awesome.
Great way to get into a balcony cabin, for less $$. We had a hard time deciding whether or not we wanted to spend the $$ on a balcony cabin, because we know we will be active, and not in the cabin a whole lot. BUT since these cabins are about 20% less than other balcony rooms, I kind of felt it was a good compromise.
I would not recommend a 5a cabin. They do have french doors you can open, but the boat hangs DIRETLY infront of the doors. No view at all. I have heard there are some 5a's that are in between the boats that do have a view, but not an option for us because we needed 2 rooms next to each other.
