I will also be traveling on this cruise, I have been once before about three years ago. That was a different ship though, I think the Fantasy. Me and my friends had a blast but they will not be joining me this time so I think it would be nice to know some people before I get on board.

Hoe was the cruise? I have never cruised with Carnival before. I keep
hearing that Carnival keeps making PA announcements through out the day.
I want to meet some people and just relax and put my feet up. This will be
my first real relaxing vacation in 7 years.

Don't worry about the spelling, this about vacation stuff so we should be able to relax and not worry about being perfect. I had so much fun last time that It's hard to single out to many specific things. It has been far to long since the last trip though. It will also be strange traveling without all my friends but I am sure I will still have fun. I am also 39, but I am afraid I will have a birthday before I leave and hopefully my sadness about that unfortunate event will be behind me before I get on board. One of the things I do remember was the music that they played throughout the day aboard the ship, it was the same stuff over and over again. But, in all honosty that was just about the only big complaint I had. The food, staff, and people I met were all fantastic and we were treated great every moment of the cruise. I can't wait......................

I cant wait, I am hoping that I can get on the cruise with no drama. I really need a vacation. I really hope the music isnt too loud, it seems the
older I get the less I like music. I am more of a talk radio kind of lady.

I don't think you will have too much trouble finding quiet places to relax. I tell myself that I am going to read a book, but I had said that last time and never even cracked the cover open. I hope I have that much fun again, although I can't imagine not having a blast. I didn't even get off the boat in Catalina before, but I plan on it this time, I want to go out on the glass bottom boat. By the way my name is Carroll.

hey Carroll what deck are you on? I will be on the Empress deck below the mall.
Dont get me wrong, I dont know how to sit still, I want to take tours of the ship and take casino lessons and do the wine tasteing.
My Daughter and I will be doing our favorite thing in Catalina-shopping.
I have never been to Catalina before and I was born here in CA.
we have an Ocean view room, im claustraphobic
hopefully will have early dinning times, better to eat early so can eat later again.
I hope I can meet people to hang out with, will be nice in evening while DD is in camp Carnival. She has informed me I am on my own, she wants to hang out with the Kids in the camp not Mom.

I am on the Empress deck, I just don't have any idea where. I know that I have an inside cabin probably right next to the laundry room but that would still be fine with me. I am signed up for the 8:00 o'clock dinner time, but the food was so good I think I will still be able to find my apetite later on that night.

I know that I won't even be able to sleep the night before so I will be hittin the road pretty early to get down there. I live in Fresno so I have about a 3 1/2 hour drive., but it will seem like forever. I will be doing good not to get a ticket.
If we do end up in nearby cabins please remember that the person you hear snoring will not be me. I don't care what anybody says I know it can't be me.

You wont hear me snoring I allways blame my Daughter.
My Daughter blames everything on her invisable dog.
We live on Orange County so with traffic it will probably take close to an hour to get to port. I am making my dear Father drive us so I dont have to drive and pay to park.
I know I wont be able to sleep the night before, Well I guess it will be a sleeping pill
for me and Antihistime for my Daughter who will be driving me nuts that whole weekend.

Yes, parking is one of those unfortunate expenses. At least I know to plan for it now though and make sure I don't blow it in the casino. I almost wish I could pay it ahead of time, but with my luck it would get messed up and I would have to end up paying twice.
I am sure you daughter will find enough friends to keep her busy, I had never even considered spring break when I scheduled my vacation.

I know she will find friends aboard, but that leaves me alone and the bad guy when its time to pull her from camp to stay with me. My parents just gave me 3 shirts for Christmas to put away for the cruise and they gave my DD 2 shirts and 2 fancy dresses to put away, hopefully she wont put the pounds on before the cruise

I wouldn't worry to much about it she's only seven. I remember when I was seven I could eat almost anything and be fine. Now, I am going to have to go back on the atkins diet right after New Years just so people can tell me from the boat.

Just three more months.....................................

Well I try not to go near the shore line, because I am afraid that
some one will mistake me for a marine mammal and roll me back into the ocean.
We have 85 more days to go. I am hoping I can get that stupid auth letter to travel
with my DD, so mad have to go to court, even though she lives with me.

Sorry about the red tape, it doesn't make much sense. But such is life, the good news is you will have this little problem behind you soon then all you need to worry about is your first beverage once you get on board.
85 days is way to long, I want to go now. I think all of my people that I supervise at work want to me to go now also. I hope they don't pull a mutiny on me before I leave.

I am hoping I will get that auth letter. If I can not go on this cruise, that I have planned for since March 2004, someone will be hurting. My co workers are about ready to kill me since I am hurting and tired all the time. I dont think I am going to make another 85 days or so. What I have read suggests that you wait till after the Muster drill to have
a drink, will have 1 maybe 2 drinks and then turn me loose on the ship.
The first night after dinner I have to go to the family night at Camp carnival to
enroll my daughter, im sorry but it doesnt sound like there will be drinking going on there.

Hey Laura,

Hope you have a great time on the cruise with your daughter. One of my favorite times was curling up on the comfortable cushions they have along the window and looking out at the beautiful ocean as we go by and just relaxing and enjoying it. I've even began to nod off there, I was soooo relaxed!

Dont' feel pressured to do anything you dont' want to do, that is the nice thing about cruising as opposed to any other type of vacation, you can do as much as you want, or as little! I've heard of some people who dont' even get off of the ship, but still have exactly the type of vacation they want....

Glad to hear your daughter is planning on enjoying the other kids, and not just depending upon you for her enjoyment...

Let us know how it goes!

...Jean

Luckily we are having New Years Eve here at the house with a bunch of close friends with their sleeping bags so it should be safe. I sure don't think it will be very sane though, probably an all night session of trivial pursuit and playstation and we are all grown ups, supposedly....
Oh and by the way it's Mr. Carroll not Ms. Carroll, don't worry about it, with my name people get it confused all the time. Here's an even better one my last name is Flowers. That's right Carroll Flowers, I had the prettiest name on the football team. Luckily I adjusted well and didn't get beat up too much.

I am so sorry I got your gender wrong. Was assuming based on our postings.. Now the spelling of your name makes sense.. British name?
New years will be board games or tv with DD.
Sounds like you will have a great new years. Any night with my Daughter is a great one.
I have a cousin by the name of Bambi, some parents dont picture their kids grown when they name them. My sister named her child Madison and all I can think of is 5th avenue.
By the way who are you going with on the cruise?

Jean what is the food like on the paradise? Do they allways make announcements over the PA (would drive me nuts). Is the dining room food much better than the buffet food?
I know once my daughter gets loose in camp she will not want to leave..I have to drag her out of after school care every day..

The food is very good! We've always been pleasantly surprised by what they offer. And don't forget, now is the time to try strange foods you would never try normally since it's all freeee....

Also, if you just can't find *anything* you like on the menu, you can always always get a regular steak, New York I think it was....it's not advertised on the menu, but you can get it...

Then of course there is dessert time..........

Believe me I know parents can be cruel. But it was only a minor setback, I really don't even get that much flack over my name anymore. As a matter of fact, most people don't even think it's my real name, my only reply is who in the world would make up a name like that.
As far as who I am going with. It's just me, this will be the first time I have ever ventured out on my own like this. I usually have a bunch of friends who find a way to be wherever I am at. But this time I didn't even tell any of them that I was going, I just felt like getting away on my own for once and escaping everything. So I found a cruise that I could afford to get a cabin by myself and just try and relax. My last cruise that I went on initially was just myself and my best friend. By the time the boat left, there was almost forty people that we knew traveling with us, and I had turned into the damn cruise director. It was really more like a job than a vacation. So this time I am really looking forward to meeting new people and being responsible for none of them.
I am happy though that I will at least know somebody's name on the boat. Tell ya what, your first drink is on me...

Carroll I think we will have a blast. I will take you up on your offer of the drink only if I can buy the second round and at that point you may have to pick me up off the floor, I dont drink very often. but I am pretty funny when under the influence of alcohol.
I like your story about being the cruise director you had me laughing.
I would have loved to come by myself but if I planned this trip and didnt take Tia, she and my parents would never let me hear the end of it. nag, nag, nag.
I am glad we have met and it would be a blast if we are on the same floor.

I understand, I am catching quite a bit of static myself over traveling alone. I will gladly take you up on your offer for the second drink, I bet it taste better than the first.
I know I am on the Empress deck, I just do not know where. I am not sure when I find out but I am not that concerned about it.
I am on a four day weekend right now and I can't even enjoy it that much because all I can think about is the cruise.

I am on 3 day weekend and all I can think of is
1. how to make it till March 21 without hurting someone.. major burn out.
Wanted to yell at customers that there isnt anything wrong with their bill, they
just talked on their cell phone too long.

Will take this long weekend and try to regroup, and think about the cruise.

Roll call paradise 03/21/2005 anybody else other than us and probably 300 kids coming?
