This is my first cruise with Carnival.... My only other cruise was with R/C Intl cruise lines. On the R/C TRIP, I had no problem getting a 30 pack(cans) in my luggage. Do you think this is possible again with Carnival ?? Am I pushing my luck ?? I know with R/C they state that it is "frowned apon" to bring your own booze. Carnival states "it's prohibited" I assume they will be checking the bags much more strict.
They usually don't worry much with a six pack or two but a 30pack! It much set off the metal dectors or raise suspicions when they x-ray it and that is pushing it to say the least. The choice is yours but that is a lot of beer IMHO.

Hi Jack,
I also agree with Robo, 30 is a bit much, but I'm sure you'd be OK with a 12 pack in your luggage....You can also purchase a 6 pack at a port and bring it back onboard, we've done that in the past with no problem.
No problem Jack. I was thinking, (again, very dangerous for a warped mind) and realized you would also have to change your name if you had 30 beers as you could no longer be nimble OR Quick. <VBG>

Not that I do this sort of thing anymore....but, way back in 1999 we were a able to get two 30-packs and a cooler onboard the Imagination with no problem at all. And it was prohibited then too. The year before on the Sensation we hung out with two guys from Detroit who were at our dinner table. They had onboard with them at least a couple of 30-packs, a couple of 1.75 of Jager Meister, and a large cooler. Once again just to clear my name, I am reformed and don't do this sort of thing anymore but it can be done.
what I did last time was to put the beer in my "checked" luggage. We had transfers from the airport to the ship. With the transfers, the luggage should arrive directly to your room without me having to walk them on board through the screening process. I am sure all checked bags will be screened but, if it is found at least I won't be embarressed or hold up the lines.
I think I will be nutty and give it a try... wish me luck and I will let you know how I made out.
My advice is to go for the 30 pack. I have been on two other cruises (both RCCL) and have packed a 30 pack in with my luggage and they both went through. Then again I went with a couple of "DRINKERS" It's nice that people say you should bring on a 6 pack, but what are you going to drink for the last 6 days, 22 hour time your there. Have any other Carnival cruisers out there packed beer in their luggage and sent it through the airlines? Tell Jack your story.

Yes it can be done. Last Feburary we were able to get 6 bottles of wine,1 bottle of vodka,
1bottle of port, several cases of h2o and soft drinks, plus a few other items on board no problem.
Just got off the 12/11/2004 Triumph and it was wonderful, we brought along in our backpacks 1 litre of rum, whiskey and vodka, no problem they were so busy at check in they did not check anything.
At $5.00 per beer onboard I would pack as much beer as you can carry/ drink, as when in port you will have to leave all liquor not concealed somewhere(hint hint) at security until the last night of the cruise.
I Just returned from my cruise on the Valor and had no problem getting the 30 pack of beer on the ship. I put it in a soft cooler and checked it with the rest of my luggage.
