Based on some questions and remarks we have received in the past I thought you might be interested to know that this weekend at the port of Jacksonville 11 people were stop from boarding a Carnival Ship, (Celebration), and arrested for possession of drugs. The drugs varied from marijuania to cocaine, herion, and even mushrooms! These people were not together nor did they know each other. They just thought they could bring drugs with them and 'have a good time'. The ship is now at sea and these people are 'having a good time' sitting in the Duval County jail awaiting arrainment for various drug charges.

We must not forget that this was a joint, (no pun intended), effort on behalf of the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office and Homeland Security/Customs/DEA. Good deal anyway. I guess these folks figured that they would only be checked for drugs when they returned, not when the left. <G> Not too bright but that is why they call it 'dope'.

Let this be a warning to all the "users" you want to use it do it at home!!! or even better DONT DO IT AT ALL!!! Pretty sad when you have to use drugs (alcohol too) to have a good time, obviously something is lacking in your life.

also hockeyguy....i've heard that plenty of drinking goes on aboard most ships. a lot of people sail to party..but trying to bring drugs anywhere is pretty dumb

The noon news on TV caught my eye today as one of the cruise arrests was a local man from the town my husband works in. I will delete the mans name in story (although it already is all over the news).
But I will post news link for those wishing to read the news story blurb.
Story Title: Kokomo dentist arrested on drug charges in Florida
(This is kokomo Indiana by the way - about an hour north from Indianapolis)
Kokomo, Jan. 11 - A Kokomo dentist has been arrested for trying to trying to smuggle drugs onto a cruise ship.
Thirty-eight-year-old M**** P*** was found with 18 hits of ecstasy and marijuana at the dock of a ship in Jacksonville, Florida.
According to the Kokomo Tribune, the music group sponsoring the floating music festival he'd planned to attend encouraged passengers to bring drugs.
Doctor P*** faces a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge. He posted bail in Florida last Friday and was expected to return to work Tuesday.

That really sucks. Heard there were people going to the bath room and flushing there sh*t before leaving on the cruise as well. Guess people in jax just like to party.... hell yeh
I had a drug problem when I was young:
I was drug to church on Sunday morning.
I was drug to church for wedding and funerals.
I was drug to family reunions and community socials no matter
what I'd rather be doing.
I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults and
teachers.
I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents
or if I didn't put forth my best effort in everything that was asked of me.
I was drug out to pull weeds in mom's garden and flower beds,
mow the lawn, pick up my clothes and keep myself clean.
Those drugs are still in my veins; and they affect my behavior
in everything I do, say, and think. They are stronger than cocaine, crack or heroin, and if today's children had this kind of drug problem, America might be a better place today
It was funny, because I was on the glory and Stuart Dunn gave a great little speech at the debarkation talk about not using drugs and I came home to Jacksonville a day or two later, turned on the news and there were a bunch of people getting busted before getting on the Celebration.
Some people bring whole new meaning to the word stupid.
these people got busted because they were talking on the internet about before going. they new exactyly who and what they were looking for. just got back from the celebration and they did not check us at all for anything. I could have snuck a dead body on if I wanted
