Default Elation just back

What an amazing trip. I am glad to be home, but now that I have been home for few minutes to see the furry children (2 goldens), I am ready to go back. I will post a full review later this week. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

We did a couple of excursions, none through the ship. In progresso, we just shopped in the little area where they dropped us off. In cozumel we did the royal swim with the dolphins-it was an amazing experience. In belize we booked a snorkel and beach break once in Belize. I would not reccomend doing this. We have now been to belize twice and both times booking on our own has not worked out. I don't know what you are interested in doing but the Goff's Caye excursion is a wonderful snorkel. We will book that through the cruise next year. If you have any other questions I would be happy to answer them.

We are thinking of the cave tubing in Belize; the 4 x 4 with beach excursion in Cozumel and the Merida/zoo tour in Progresso. Have been to Cozumel many times. On one place, I see that xcaret is offered i n Cozumel. Is this true? What do you think of the above tours? Looking forward to your reveiw!!

Where did you park in Galveston and how was it? What time do you get there? Thank you, Debbie

We stayed the night at the Super 8 in Galveston. They let us park our car for the week for free. The cab fare to the pier was about $11.
We arrived at the pier at about 11:15. The fog was really bad and the ship did not even get into port until almost 2. The wait was long, but not that big of a deal.
Cheryl, we have not done any of the excursions you asked about, sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Could you please tell me who the Cruise Director was on your Elation voyage and if you think he'll be there when we travel in April 05?

Our cd was Chris Roberts. I have no idea how long he will be on ship.

One piece of advice. If you are interested in the 4x4 excursion in Cozumel, be sure to board the ship early and reserve the excursion immediately. On our cruise in December this excursion was completely booked before we left port in Galveston.

Hi Astros fan.. I was on that boat coming in, in that fog. I missed my flight and ended up staying another night in Texas. Due to the fog they stayed anchored from about 6am. The wait for you was probably not bad for you, but there were alot of angry people on that boat. You should have seen the things that happened. i'm glad you had fun. I did to, just getting home was a real pain.

Dawmeny-
The wait for me wasn't bad, I was with a group of friends. However, there were lots of angry people waiting to start their vacation. I can't believe how rude some people can be. They forgot that the Carnival staff has no control over the weather.

Hi, we just got off the Elation and had an awesome time. The cd was Jennie and she was good, but I heard she was leaving. They don't stay very long, it appears.
In Belize we did the cave tubing, organized through the ship and it was great.

Re: rude people - you're so right astros fan. some people can't shut off the misery when they are on vacation. It's really too bad. The cruise staff work their buns off trying to keep everyone happy, and so much is out of their control. People should chill out and relax.

We loved the Las Vegas shows and Lubo the balancing act.

What dock were you at in Cozumel? How much did the hotel cost you in Galveston?

I don't know what dock I was at. It was by a big mall that you walk through to get to the taxi's. The hotel in Galveston (Hotel Galvez) was 129.00$ a night. I don't know if that was the price because it was a holiday (Christmas Dec. 25). Coming back when I missed my flight we stood at a hotel by Bush airport. That was 50.00$ a night . It was a Best Western. Hope this helps.

Sounds like the Puarta Maya Pier. Was there a long building on the pier with stores?

Yes. With an escalator that went down to the cabs. You wait in a line and the cabs pull up you get in and off you go. It was about a 20 minute ride to Playa Mia Beach Break (which is where we went and had a ball). I'm sorry I don't have a name but your description sounds right.
