Default calica, cozumel tender or dock?

My family and will be sailing the Sensation in 8 short (I hope) days. I was curious if they dock at these ports or use tenders? We will also be cruising again in November and I know that they use tenders at some of the ports we'll visit on that cruise. I understand the basic process for getting off the ship and on to the tenders, but am a little unclear how getting back on to the ship works. Can you go back to the ship at will, or is there one designated time to return and everyone forms an orderly ( or disorderly) line and waits at the given time for the tenders to take them back? I just want to know if we want to return to the ship early if that is an option or if we need to be sure to plan a full day of activities once we are in port.

Thanks for any feedback

Depends upon the port. In Grand Cayman everybody tenders, St. Maarten docked, ST. Thomas tender and Cozumel docked.

You dock in the ports you mentioned. When you tender there is a steady run of tenders with them being as fast as they can load when you first get to the port and when it gets close to sailing time. During the rest of the day they usually run every 20 minutes give or take.
