Default Trunk Bay or stay on St. Thomas

We sail on the Glory this year and have heard many things about the shopping and beaches at St. Johns, but aren't there some really nice beaches on St. Thomas also? Which beaches do you recommend for St. Thomas, maybe we can do both, we are there for 10 hours. 10-AM till 8PM.

We did the Eastern Carib. on the Glory last August. Spent the day at Sapphire Beach, after stopping at Megans Bay. Sapphire was much nicer, less crowded, less touristy. Cost was $8 per person for the taxi ride each way which was about 30-40 minutes from the pier. You could rent snorkle equipment, chairs, etc at the beach. They also had an open air bar and grill. The grill was somewhat expensive, but I guess it was all relative.

Next stop was St. Martine. We rented a jeep and toured the island on our own. Highly recommend it if you are adventureous.

Please feel free to email me directly with any other questions.

We went to Coki Beach, great snorkeling right off the beach. Somewhat picturesque, although there is a graveyard right next to it. It was calm, great beach bars. Magens Bay is supposed to be one of the 10 best beaches on the world, but I've heard it's crowded.
I don't think I'd recommend trying to do both St Thomas beaches and St Johns, pick one or the other. Frankly you won't go wrong at either island.

Meagans Bay on St Thomas is very nice-

St John is more secluded and enjoyable--

You can do both possibly

Thanks for the info......can;t wait no matter where we end up at.
Did they have parasailing at either of these beaches. The kids want to try that....also were you able to see any stingrays at either beach?

We did see a stingray at Sapphire Beach. I don't remember seeing anyone parasailing, although my son and I did rent a jetski for an hour - I think it was $40 or $45.

we have been to trunk bay , our entire family traveled to st. thomas years ago and stayed at a private condo and had a beautiful beach on the premises. however, we made two day trips to st. johns and spent the day on the beaches at trunk bay and cinnamon bay. they are two of the most beautiful places i have ever seen. one had huge waves for romping in and the other was so serene. i would not miss seeing either one of them and spending time there. if we ever goback we will go to st. johns, stay there and skip st. thomas completely patticake

bill,

Of all the beaches in St. Thomas, which is the least crowded? We go in May and I want to visit a beach, but not all day.

Also, what ablout the cable car that goes upsome sort of hill/mountain? is it worth the $9.00 trip and can you get some good arial pictures of the Island?

Thanks!

We sailed on theTriumph and had a beautiful trip. On the Island when you debark from the ship is a small car rental place. In those rental places are independant drivers whom will take you anywhere you want to go on the Island and show you all the important sights...The nice thing is we hired a driver whom has a very nice and brand new conversion van...he escorted my husband and I all over the Island for $100 for the whole day....he stayed with us the whole day so we had a place to keep all of our snorkel gear, and items we purchased while shopping, and the nice part is it was just my hubby me and the driver. We snorkled at Coki Beach, Megans bay is beautiful, besure to stop at the small restraunt on the hill for a "banana rum daquiri". Beautiful Island with lots to see...and the private drivers will take you anywhere you want to go...if you dont know where to go..they will take you to all the great spots....
