skip the excursions rent a jeep or bug and go to palancar beach/reef. Pay $25 to go out to the wall snorkeling(ask for David, he was the best). Also try the chicken tacos at Palancar beach, best I've ever had anywhere ever and didnt get sick. We stopped at the crazy pelican on the way back in the eve which went right out over the water and you could see the ship. Its at the end of the dock on the right as you're getting off the ship. Great place in the evening and a little more tame and classy than fat tuesdays.

It depends if you have children with you and their ages. We went to Chankanaab Park and were very happy with that. We have 2 girls:7,13. There is the snorkelling(we saw a spotted stingray and lots of fish),gardens to wander through, restaurants(a bit pricey, but good), washrooms, rentals for lifevests/snorkel stuff, shops, etc. There is an entrance fee of $12/pp, less for young kids. $10 cab ride to get there. Lots of palm trees for shade and lounger chair things. I would have liked to do some better snorkeling elsewhere, but this suited our family just fine. We did not find it too crowded on the day we were there.

We are not bringing the kids this time, although they have begged us to bring them along! I'm an accountant & can't wait to get a break after tax season so I definitely don't want to have to deal with kids on my vacation (how selfish of me!!) Any way, I'm 28, my husband is 27 & are bring my sister whose 30 & her boyfriend. I thought about just laying on a beach somewhere and relaxing but there are so many beaches to choose from. I also would like to swim with dolphins and do some shopping.

trust me go to Palancar. Chak. is supposed to be very nice, but a lot of people go there...you'd like Palancar, it's slower, just as beautiful but it is a little more remote...

We did the "learn to scuba", it was awesome!! Very well organized and run.
We had poeple at our table who did the JEEP, and didn't care for it. They came back full of dust and dirt. Just our experience.

If you want to do the dolphin swim that is at Channunkaab National Park.
Palencaar Reef is an amazing place to snorkel, we did it on a dive tour.
Paradise Beach, Playa Del Sol, Mr. Sancho's all great beaches with lots to do.

We did the Eco Jeep and Snorkel tour through the ship. Hubby and I loved it. We went to an Eco park saw some minor Mayan ruins, Got to see the crocodiles, saw a beautiful coastline and climbed a lighthouse. Did some wonderful snorkelling on a lovely reef. We also got absolutely filthy 4x4ing in the Jeep then went back to the port had lunch at Carlos & Charlies returned to the ship took a shower and picked up the kids from Camp Carnival. It was tons of fun!

ATV's through the jungle are a blast. This is a relatively short excursion (3 1/2 hours) and leaves you plenty of time to do other things in Cozumel.

We went horseback riding..........but we always go horseback riding!

And there is Carlos & Charlies, which is not a beach, nor really relaxing.

(but it is something to be seen to be believed)

Where is Palancar beach? I cannot locate this beach on the web sites or beach maps for Cozumel beaches. Please advise, what other beach is it next too. I want to go snorkeling at the reef while I am there.

Pnorth, Have you tried the cozumelinsider. website?
Playa Palancar is about the furthest south of all those beach places.
Tracy will hopefully let you know here exactly where she went.
