hi. we are flying into orlando on thursday 05/12 and cruising out of port canaveral on saturday 05/14. i looked on budget rent-a-car's website and they seem very reasonable. has anyone ever rented a car from them? were you pleased with their service? also, we want to drop off the car as close to the cruise terminal in port canaveral as possible. does anyone know the distance from the budget store to the cruise terminal? thanks in advance for any info.
We recently returned and used Budget. THey have many hotels nearby as well to Budget. We rented our car at the airport and returned it the morning of our cruise. Nice to be able to do what you want on your own. We dropped off our car and they have vans coming every 10 min. or so. THey've very friendly and the port is just about 1-2 miles away. THey dropped us off near the door with porters waiting to take our luggage. Very convenient! THey will also show you where to wait for them when you return if you want to get a car to go back to the airport. Or a porter will gather your luggage and they'll know where to take you.
We'll use them again next time. Have fun!
I would definately recommend Budget. We used them last September also arriving 2 days before. I grew up there and would recommend staying down on A1A at the Hampton Inn or another hotel around there, only 3 miles from the port. We loved the freedom of having our own car. You can go to Merritt Island just down the Causeway and hit WalMart or Target for last minute items. We bought our water, soda and snacks. The Budget return is across the street from the port and there are a couple of gas stations along the way to fill up before returning the car. On "cruise day" we arrived at Budget around 9 am thinking there would be a crowd. We were the only ones there and they were so friendly. Our van driver told us he had to go pick up a family from the Disney ship and would we be interested in going with him. DUH of course!!! So he waited a couple of minutes while I finished my paperwork and off we went. We were one of the first ones there. There were 5 wedding parties and 200 Red Hat Society women for a luncheon who got on before we did. The check in counters opened up promptly at 11 am and we were eating lunch by noon. Can't wait to cruise from there again. Have a great time!
