Default Anybody taken the autotrain?

We are thinking of taking the auto-train to Fla and drive to Port Canaveral.
Anybody done this before? We are also thinking of arriving a day early and stay a nearby hotel near port canaveral. To drive same day from auto train station (Sanford, FL) tot he port is taking a chance I would think. Since traffic could back up or a flat tire, etc.
If you've done this, how did it work out for you?

One of my aunts and her daughter have taken the auto train. They loved it. I think they took it up the east coast of the U.S.

Happy Cruising!

I've taken the autotrain before. It's not bad...make sure you get a sleeper car or it can be pretty long. I did it 2 or 3 times and then found that it was easier to drive...and you make make it much faster than the train. If you can stand to drive, I would recommend that instead.

we did the auto train 3 yrs ago , had a blast , not a bad ride after that, we had a large room on the train NOT THE AVERAGE SQUEEZED IN TYPE the meals were excellent, but you can get bored. Take a good book. The early moring sunrise andthe scenery at times is EXCELLENT for a train ride,
