open bar on shore excursions

i am going on the holiday in may to costa maya and cozumel and some of the shore excursions say that there is an open bar. does that mean that there is free alcohol or is the bar just open for business and we have to pay for the drinks.

open bar means the drinks are free, if you want to look at it that way, however, you pay for the excursion so technically nothing is free.

most only offer a low grade rum punch or local beer, don't expect top shelf.

In Cozmel on the Fista Party boat they have rum punch and beer and tequila shots.
They also have a beer drinking contest and winner gets a very large bottle of tequila.
It was a very fun excursion

Tequilla!?? We got a bottle of some cheap wine. My DH worked hard at the beer contest too! (true story though)

Do keep in mind that in Mexico the tequilla is probably cheaper than the wine.

Free Free drinks. We loved some red/white/blue drink made with rum. I was wonderful.
Don't worry about the ice it is pasturized from a company. The Jungle Beach Break was
a great day on the beach and we loved every minute of it.
