Exactly how do they work? Is it just a window that opens on top or a balcony with different type doors? Are the rooms less expensive? I have never seen these before.

It's my understanding that the doors open in. This photo was taken looking up at a pair of the french doors from the Promanade Deck. There's a lifeboat directly in front of them But tha'ts fine by me.. I'd rather have an obstruced view that opens than an ocean view that dosen't.
I'm not sure about pricing since we ended up here via an upgrade.

Seabourn has the French doors. At first I thought it was silly, but then I realized the best part of a balcony is getting the fresh air and hearing the sea going by. Yes, it's nice to go out there, but its also a big plus just being able to open the window. Now I think they are a great idea.
