Booked through the ship twice and went off on our own twice hanging out in Belize City. Ships tours were Cave Tubing and Xunaunich Ruins and I can highly recommend both. Although there are some highly spoken of independants there I still cannot recommend any of them due to the distance and possibility of missing the ship with them. Belize is a developing country and quite poor in many places and living conditions are pretty substandard compared to the USA. We have never had a problem there and even walked around during a government protest right among the protesters and cops who were all seemingly having lots of fun!

After lots and lots of searching for the right choice in Belize, I am very comfortable and excited to be going with Coral Breeze, doing the shark/ray & Caye Caulker excursion September 8, 2005. There is still room, anybody else wanna go with us?
Last year we did the cave tubing and this year we're doing the Goff's Caye excursion.

Think we did the "Goff' Caye" excursion last summer. It was actually pretty cool. Boat ride out to a VERY TINY island.....maybe an acre with 9 palm tree's and a hut! We snorkled.....beautiful then hung out on the island....pretty beach, plenty of room to swim and they brought our some delicious bbq grilled chicken! Very relaxing.
Plan ahead is my suggestion. Go with a ship's excursion or a reputable company(ex:Coral Breeze). We did not have anything preplanned; we chose a company within the 'cruise area compound' and as we were waiting I enquired as to our departure time and found out that they were waiting to get so many passengers or it would not go. This was not told to us when we paid. This was to be a SharyRay Alley excursion. So we got our money back(with no problem I have to admit) and hurried over to another company within the 'compound' which was going to Goff's Caye-lucky they were late leaving!!!
Goff's Caye was fun! Had some decent snorkelling and nice beach!!! We did not find it crowded when we were there.(Note:only Port-a-Potties there; always take some kleenex tissues just in case! lol)

VALOR Jan/05-our first family cruise was great!
We did Goff's Caye and snorkeled from the boat. It was awesome. I originally signed us up for the Shark Alley/Stingray excursion on-line via Carnival's website, it went through my credit card and then when we got on this ship, found out it was cancelled. They did credit our ship board account and so we did Goff's Caye as our second choice and it was fun --- clear water, lots of colorful fish and good coral.
I spoke to a man from Belize the other day and he told me that the cave tubing is an awesome experience but if you are afraid of critters, don't go because there are iguanas everywhere and snakes dropping down into the water from the trees. Is this true? I HATE stuff like that!
still looking into ideas for Belieze. i really dont want to spend the little bit of time we have there laying in the sand, or waste time shopping. i want to snorkle!!!!!!! any ideas or suggestions? i emailed reefman, hes on the other side of the island. coral breeze is a good idea, but.............
I booked with Paul, who is the owner of Coral Breeze Limited. I DID book the SHARK/RAY and CAYE CAULKER excursion for next September and I feel he is going to show us a great time. Give him a e-mail and see what you find out! He is really nice and wants us to have a nice time, not just book a trip!
we did the cave tubing in late july (through the ship) and the only critters we saw were ants. I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed then, but when I read about "snakes dropping down from the trees" I guess it's just as well! We had a wonderful time. It was a bit scary for my 11 year old as he got caught in a current and started to be pulled off in another direction, but an able bodied tour guide grabbed him. It's the kind of thing you'll remember forever and my 15 year old says it was the best thing we did.
Our server said that she had done the canopy tour and really enjoyed it, but it's a bit much for me......
I posted on the shore excursions board hoping to hear from someone who had done the canopy tour - we are DYING to zip!
