Default The Decor on the ships!

I know a lot of people have said OMG the decor on the Carnival ships are over the top or Gaudy or even tacky but I have to say I LOVE IT!

To me the tacky tourist thing! Plus I think soooo retro like when we were all younger and watched The Love Boat! HEE HEE

I loved the Triumph, but thought the Ecstasy was soooooo gaudy. The bright colored carpets made me dizzy, and I truly disliked the buffet decoration. The neon lights made the place too dark.

They just look like oversized, floating casinos! I think they're all fun looking. Heck, if the ships were all decorated like our homes, they wouldn't be as exciting!

Go Carnival!!

Hasn't really bothered me much except when I was on the Sensation. The carpet on the Atlantic Deck was so wavy, I had a few dizzy moments. Also, the atrium lobby is 'way out there with the glaring purple neon lights everywhere.

I agree HappyCruiser - I wouldn't my *home* (for goodness sake) decorated like a Carnival ship, but I find the decor fun and a little exciting.

The overhead lights in the dining room on the Fantasy made me dizzy when they started "running" in their pattern, but it just make for a more exciting cruise!

I would like to see some of the understated elegance that some of the ships offer, however. I've stayed at 2 different Rtiz Carlton hotels and it *was* lovely to be around such beautiful decor.

Love Carnival decor and also the newer Costa ships...also designed by the Carnival guy. If it's gaudy then I must like gaudy! My wife and I also feel much younger somehow in those surroundings..hahahaha. Keep those lights flashing!!

While Carnival is a bit gaudy to say the least I was not expecting fine wood paneling and drapes with the walls lined with priceless art. <G> I have many times wondered what Farcus was thinking or if he was on LSD or something. The lido on the Spirit looks like a clown exploded for crying out loud. That said, it is cheery and a conversation piece all in itself and just maybe that is what he was going for all along?

I've wondered what Farcus was "going for" myself, Jim. Very strange decor....but definitely keeps you awake!

I think people that COMPLAIN about the decor need to loosen up......a LOT. WAY a lot.

I love being a "tacky tourist"! Vegas Baby - but on a cruise ship it's even better. Carnival - keep up the good (or bad) work! Hey - you can't have fun in a library lol. TTFN Jennifer

I do NOT understand people who complain about ship decor either the Carnival gaudy or other lines too staid unless there are a bunch of suggestive pix/statues and they are traveling with young-early teen kids.

I figure I am not buying the ship, only renting a cabin for about 7 days. I have to wonder if these folks call their intended hotel for a land trip to "inquire" about the lobby, resturant and room colors and decorations.

Furthermore, it is all a matter of personal taste. Just like the food being too spicey, or bland, or boring (wonder what they eat when they cook).

I do remember when we first boarded the Spirit we looked around and though, 'wow, this is nice and pretty well toned down'. That made it very nice and while other still think it is a little too glitzy it wasn't bad at all compared to the others and we were quite surprised. Then we got to the Lido deck and my eyes started spinning and flashing and I screamed out "Bozo exploded". <> My wife hit me at that point and then pretended she didn't know me. <G>

Jim Makes me want to take the Spirit just to see the Lido Deck (as if I need an excuse to cruise)! I loved the decor on the Pride, but others have said it was too close to porno !

The worst day on a cruise beats the best day at work!!

While some see it as gaudy or trashy or whatever ... My family and I see it as fun ... and that is exactly why we take Carnival ... it is fun to see exactly what they well do in each area ... makes us realize we are on vacation on the "Fun Ship" and enjoying every single moment of it ...

In response to one that asked would some one call and ask a hotel about the decor of the lobby ... yep ... that is right ... some will and do ... I know this from experience ...

Some people, and that is ok, feel that every little aspect of a vacation should be just so ... location, decor, flavors, attitude, well, just every little detail has to be just so ... me, as long as I am on a cruise then I can make it exactly what I want it to be ... the best vacation ever ...

This coming cruise will be just that as my sister and brother-in-law will be joing my parents and I ... so what better vacation can I have... being with family doing what to me is the best way to vacation, even though I have only been on 1 cruise before ...
