Hi there! I'm taking my niece and her friend on the Ecstasy cruise 4/9 out of Galveston. I've been on quite a few cruises, 5 on Carnival, one on the Ecstasy's sister ship waaaay back when they were
pretty new. We chose this cruise because the timing suited both of our schedules. . . . The Ecstasy is an older, smaller ship - but for your first cruise, small is probably good ! She had a re-fit not too long ago, but you will probably see some worn spots onboard, maybe some carpet that is yet to be replaced, perhaps some of the cabins may look a little dated. The ship is decorated in a very bright "Las Vegas" glitz fashion.
I'm not sure how your food tastes run, but the breakfasts and lunches onboard are your usual fare - on the breakfast buffet, its eggs, bacon, pancakes, danishes, cereal, omelets, sausage, fruit, etc. The breakfasts in the open-seating dining room have much the same, with the addition of a few fancier dishes available (such as Eggs Benedict, etc.). Lunches are available either in the dining room, (again, just a bit more "dressed up" food); at the buffet (everything from sandwich makings to hot dishes to hamburgers); and food is also available at the 24 hour pizzeria/deli and the poolside hamburger/hot dog/chicken place.
If you have any specific questions, I'd be glad to answer them !
