Default Key West

Any of you out there who live in Key West or visit there regularly........is the sandal factory still there. We took the Conch Train tour (wonderful) and they recommended that we visit this sandal factory where you would pick your style, leather color, etc. and they would make your sandals right there. I loved them for the years they lasted. Just wondered if it's still there.............

Hi BoosterMom:

What is this factory? We are heading to Key West in April and this sounds like fun. There are 8 ladies traveling and are always in need of a new pair of shoes (contrary to what the guys say).

Thanks for the help.

I don't know if the sandal factory is still there or not but they are hand made sandals of leather many styles, many sizes. I have a pair I think it is called Kinos. Ask anybody they will tell you where it is or used to be. It is locally owned so unless they retired Its probably still there. They are inexpensive. I think the cheapest pair is like thongs, $8.00.
You pick up your size our of hutches they have them stuck in and if they don't have the style made in your size you want they will make it for you. They aren't the friendliest people working there because they are locals, and I guess their work is hard. But they will last a long long time.

Go to Google and put in Kinos, Key West, Florida and a few websites pop up. Looks like a neat place to visit.

It was there last April and going strong. It is in the market area where the ships come in. Be sure to visit Pepe's for lunch, it is 1 block down from the fisherman's pier. Some of the best food ever!!! Locals will know where it is at

I have been to Key West several times--LOVE IT
However, this year Mexico is in my plans.
Just wanted to tell you about Pepe's, it is by the fishermans pier, Behind the Raw Oyster Bar. I am sure you will find it if you ask around. Good homemade food. There is a resturant on the corner of the same block that has an outstanding breakfast. One more place is down a block away from downtown (not sure what direction that is) It is on the right side of the road it is a Woman's name--geez too many margaritas there can't remember the place, but boy was it good. We like the off the beaten path kind of places.

Finally heard from fil. It is 107 Fitzpatrick St. It across the street from Mallory sq. depending on which dock you are at. Just ask any of the vendors, or store owners since we know it is still there. Have fun.
