Under 21 passengers

I have two children, ages 18 and 21. I know they aren't allowed to drink on board the ship, but are they allowed in the clubs at night by themselves to dance and hangout. They are too old to be with the 'teen' clubs, especially my 20 year old who will be 21 three weeks after the cruise. Thank You.

They will be allowed in the Casino (age is 18 and over) and the disco, again age is 18 and over. They will have a wonderful time.

Re: Under 21 passengers

My girls are 20 & 21 now. Two years ago on the Sensation, they had no trouble getting into the "mature" comedian's show at midnight. One of them was legal to go into the casino, but when we took the other one with us, no one said anything. Since 18 is the legal age for everything except drinking, I'm sure they will have no problem going anywhere on the ship. I've heard that if you are with the underage ones, the parent can order a drink for them.........if that is an issue for you. Mine were too old for the teen club thing too and they just sort of formed their own group with some other older teens. They did go to the disco, but of course couldn't drink. I don't know if they could have because they do look older than they are, but they didn't. We do allow our 20 year old to have a drink with us at home as long as she is staying home and not going anywhere. This will be an issue with her on the cruise because she is going to want a frozen umbrella drink around the pool..............awkward age, huh???

Re: Under 21 passengers

Do you realyy think that if they go to the disco they are not going to drink?. You know guys do by drinks for ladies. If I order a drink for a lady I do not ask them how old they or should I?. I really believe If you have to 21 to drink on the ship than you have to be 21 to
enter a club. Believe me the last thing I need Is a parent asking me why I gave Alcohol
to a person under 21.

Re: Under 21 passengers

You don't have to be 21 (or 18 for that matter) to enter the clubs. Disco and casino - yes 18. My son went to all the clubs because of the music. Of course we went together, but he was a "regular" at the piano bar and had a blast singing along.

I imagine if he had been on his own they might have asked him to leave, but with Mom along it was fine.

Your young adults should be fine.

Re: Under 21 passengers

I have been on cruises where I guess someone was angry there were people in there UNDER 21 and one night, from that night on every night there was a security guy checking ID's.

I think it all depends, kinda like one bad apple messes it up for the rest.

Re: Under 21 passengers

The 21 year old can drink alcohol, go into the Casino, and the adult comedian shows. The 19 yr. old will not be allowed to do any of the above.

My niece was with me in the Casino and not playing any games. The Manager told her she had to leave.

Re: Under 21 passengers

They will be able to do everything but drink alcohol. Carnival's stated age policy is 18 and above for the casino, 16 and above after 10:45pm for the Disco, and 18 and above or accompanied by an adult for all other public areas.

Their policy can be found in the pre-cruise documentation and also at their website here:

http://carnival.com/CMS/FAQs/Age_Res..._on_Board.aspx

Since others have reported problems in the casino and disco, I would suggest bringing a copy of the age policy with you in case they are given any trouble.

Re: Under 21 passengers

bjkeen, did they ask for her ID? It specifically says on the Carnivals website

Casino:
Guest must be 18 years of age or older to play the tables and the slot machines. Guests under 18 years of age are not permitted in the casino.

For the Adult Comedian, they also had to be 18 years of age unless accompanied by a parent. I was surprised by how many parents let their younger (15 or so) kids sit with them.

It surprised me too, CACruiser. I went alone to the midnight comedy show because I knew it wouldn't be appropriate for my 14 yo. There were a number of kids who had snuck in the back way (I overheard them talking about it) and a few more actually sitting with parents.

My son kept "drifting" into the casino to watch me play and both times was asked to leave.

Re: Under 21 passengers

BJ, your niece should have told the manager she was 19 as she is allowed in there and even allowed to gamble if she wants. Age in the Casino on CCL ships is 18 or older. I have a step-son that quite literally looks 15 yrs old but he is 29 as of last month. He always gets carded or strange looks when doing adult things.

Re: Under 21 passengers

My daughter is 19, almost 20 but she looks like she is 16 (we are also taking one of her close friends with us who also looks 16). Two years ago on RCI she wasn't allowed anywhere, clubs or casino. This May we are on the Triumph and she is worried she will run into problems getting in the clubs, she knows she won't be able to buy drinks, but wants to be able to be in the clubs. On RCI they marked their sail and sign card with a star shaped punch if they weren't allowed in the clubs and casino, how do they mark the card on Carnival. We have sailed on Carnival twice before, but not with the kids.

Re: Under 21 passengers

I used to work for Carnival so I can tell you the exact truth.

DISCO= Some ships allow guests 16 and up into the disco... and some are 18 and up. It just depends on the ship. NEVER has it ever been 21 to enter the disco on a cruise ship.

CASINO: 18+ Not 21. Yes, the do card if you look under 18.

ADULT COMEDY SHOWS: 18+ not 21.

DRINKING: 21+ HOWEVER, if a parent/guardian were to buy their son/daughter a drink (fo fo drink, beer.. whatever) than that seems to be ok, But you must be 21 to buy an alcholic drink.

Therefore, if your Son/daughter is 18 or up (16 in some instances), they can do EVERYTHING but buy drinks.

Hope this helps y'all...
Have a good one,
jim
