I was wondering if anyone ever purchased a drink card ? I am going with a group for the first time and they offer them.It is not just for soda but alchohol as well.My question is does it include all liquor, including top shelf? As a moderate drinker,is it worthit?
When we went last July, the only drink cards available were for soda, not alcohol. Maybe they offer them for groups, I dont know. I would make sure before you go that it definately does include alcohol. Have a good time!!
The other posters are right. Carnival offers a fountain drink card for sodas only and price depends on the length of your cruise. You can buy drink coupons from Carnival also their web site under gifts. 4 for $19.50, but I think if you order a drink that is like $6.95 you may have to pay the difference, say one coupon is worth $4.95, you pay the extra two dollars. I personally wouldn't want to fool with them unless some wonderful person sent them to us as a gift.
The fountain cards cover all your sodas at all bars, dinner, lunch, etc. If you drink sodas, it's worth it. My 21 year old still wants a fountain card for her Diet Cokes!!!
I am not too sure if it would even be worth it at $280.... think about it....
$280/ $6 per drink = 46 drinks
46 drinks/ 7days = 6 1/2 drinks a day
I am not too sure if I could drink that much, but I am sure there are others that could.
I however have never heard of it

The alcohol card is not a myth...it does exist Joe, so those saying it does not are wrong. The price is $260 and if you are a moderate drinker it is not a bargain. If you like starting your day with a bloody mary and keep em coming all day it is a REAL BARGAIN. You should also keep in mind that if you are in port 3 days then that is 3 days you would not be using the card onboard. You just have to do the math and figure out what feels right. IT DOES INCLUDE WINE (by the glass, not bottle) and IT DOES INCLUDE TOP SHELF. It also includes soda if memory serves me right but I won't swear my next cruise on it.
This is only offered to groups reserving a minimum of 8 cabins. At least 8 cabins in any group would have to get the drink card. If you have a group booked and want the alcohol card then you have to ask your TA for the alcohol card option. They do not suggest it and neither will CCL. You have to do the asking yourself.
Would really like to know more about how to get this card. Had a group on 11 cabins booked and inquired of such a card through TA and Carnival. Travel said she'd been an cruise specialist agent for 9 years and had never heard of this through any Carnival Cruise. Spoke to Carnival and they also said that there was no card that would cover alcohol purchases while on the cruise. You could only purchase the coupons through the website. I did however here that certain TA's offer some type of alcohol card while on a recent carnival cruise while talking with other passengers but that was offered through a TA when booking through a different cruise line.
