Default hotel and shuttle vs. parking ramp in Miami

Does anyone know what the parking ramp is like at the Miami port? Do you suggest parking there or is it better to find a hotel with park and stay and be shuttled? If shuttled to the port, does anyone know what hotels are close to the port and have a park and stay / shuttle program ?

I called Carnival as well as the Port of Miami. They "say" that the parking is plentiful and is secure and easy to get into and out of. Another poster told me that you drive right down past the cruise terminal and turn into the parking decks. I was concerned because we are a family of four and I don't like hubby dumping us out, someone taking our luggage and then we stand around and wait for hubby while I keep up with kids and try to stay visible so he can find us. In Jan. in Tampa, we parked and rolled our own luggage across the street to the porters and off we went. Hubby gets a little uneasy sending people several different directions. We're going to drive in that morning and park there and look at situation as we drive up to see if we want to roll from parking deck or roll from car!!! In Tampa it's all so close. Just hoping it is as close in Miami as they say it is.........

Hi BoosterMom . . . .
When are you cruising out of Miami ? If you can, when you get back, let us know how accessible the ramp was ( proximity to the terminal, ample size, etc. ) We would possibly be cruising next March during our children's spring break - not sure how many more spring break families would be driving in then.
Thanks !

The parking garage is right across the road from the terminal. It should take all of 5 minutes to park and walk across. Unload the baggage first rather than dragging it with you. The garage is covered too so the sun won't damage the car.

Hello to all,
Thanks for the info. We have booked our next cruise on the Glory out of Port Canaveral. We have been to this port before and are familiar with the parking situation there. Hope you all have fantastic vacations wherever your travels take you.

Docliz:

I'll be happy to let you know, we're cruising out of Miami in August. However, it looks like Phoebe has answered our question. Have you changed to Port Canaveral or are you still looking at Miami next March?

We are going to sail out of Port Canaveral next March. Any information regarding the hotel/shuttle vs parking ramp would be appreciated as we are still thinking of Miami in the future and it would help us as we plan ahead. One can never have too many opinions. Thanks

P.S. Thanks Phoebe for the info. Sounds like it is as convenient as the terminal in Tampa. We had read all sorts of bad info on the ramp in Tampa and chanced it last year, and all was well when we returned. This year we opted for the park and stay motel / shuttle which we had done a couple years ago. Problem always seems to be that they overbook and don't have rooms for you when you arrive even though we called and confirmed we were coming and they had our CC# to guarantee our rooms. Hoping that the ramps are secure / safe.

Do the hotels offer park and sail facilities for parking weekly
