I think it is as good, but in a different way. My first cruise was with a group of 10 and none of us had children yet. We were a group that varied in age from 21 to early 40's. We had a great time even though the ship was older. I think they retired it about 6 months after we had cruised.

My second cruise was a lot of fun as well. But in a totally different way. I was pregnant with my daughter, and we were with my husband's parents. It was a very nice ship, and I reallly enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere.

Coming up April 3, will be my third cruise, and we are taking my daughter. I totally expect a different type of experience with this cruise as well. I'm so looking forward to enjoying our cruise through my daughter's eyes this time.

Hope you have a wonderful second cruising experience. You might find, like I have, that the cruising experience is very addictive.

I'm waiting for cruise #43 to come along.... and I get just as excited as the first time.

I think you actually enjoy later cruises even more, because you gain experience on what to look for, what to sluff off if there are obstacles along the way, and how to deal with things you can't simply sluff off.

I think the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. are just as good because somewhere in between your cruises you have real life and real life makes you have experiences that broaden your horizons. You go into each cruise as a more informed person. Plus, if you cruise enough and stay on these boards and learn the "ins and outs" and "tricks of the trade" you can enjoy each cruise more and more.

I have always found that it gets better as you get to know one another better.

Oooops. That's not what the question was, huh? <g>

The thrill is definitely still there and maybe a little something else. In one sense, I had a better 2nd cruise because I knew more what to expect.

But....that first sailaway is something I will never forget. It was a feeling I'll always treasure!

We sure hope so.

We ourselves are heading out on our 2nd cruise in 26 days.

I think you will always remember that first cruise (husband and I and our 2 kids). This time we have recruited a dozen more to join us. Can't wait and all are very excited. First for some, 2nd for others.

Enjoy and enjoy the planning time.

Cruise 4 coming up. It is so boring, mundane, and routine now--NOT! I remember each of my previous boardings and sail aways, for distinctive details.

The first cruise, I remember because everything was new and waiting to board seemed to take so long. The second I remember because everything was different from the first--different ship, different line, different terminal, and on the ship much quicker than I expected.

The third was the most disorganized of the lot. The ship was 7 hours late, due to sea fog. It threw off the the entire rhythm of the boarding process. But even though it was a pain at the time, I knew I'd laugh later. I'd love to be back amid that chaos again-- especially the moment when the whale tail funnel appeared approaching the terminal's channel--and the stampede toward the windows to watch her dock, at last!

So I just roll my eyes and sigh when I think that--darn it!--in 11 days, I have to go through it all again. Do I really have to go back to visit that first ship, in a new port? Must I really? Channeling Mr. T, pity the fool that tries to keep me away!

I may dwell on the land, but I live at sea!

It is especially since you are going on a different ship, it will be like a 1st cruise!
