My husband and I are going on our first cruise this Sunday on the Destiny. He had a concern about appropriate footwear for the dining room. We have read many posts about dress code for the dining room and he is totally fine with wearing khakis and polos (90% of his closet) but he wants to wear his leather sandals. They are not a flip flop or a hiking sandals but more like a leather fisherman sandal. His toes aren't exposed and the leather has many straps that cover the front and top of his foot but they will be more airy. Is this ok for the dining room? I know I had read posts about people going to the dining room in jeans, tank tops, very mini skirts and other non-appropriate clothes but with this being our first cruise we want to kind of adhere to standards.
We have been on four cruises and my husband only wears sandals the entire time we are on the boat. Like your husbands, the sandals are leather and in good condition. My husband wears the nice pants, nice shirts, etc but he draws the line at shoes and socks. We have never had any trouble and I personally don't think that wearing sandals is breaking any kind of dress code. He's on vacation and what is on their feet really should not be a big deal.

Melissa-- my husband always wears leather sandals in the dining room whenever we cruise. Not a problem.
Then again, he also wore sandals with his tuxedo for our wedding 25 years ago.
My mom had a fit but I just told her I didn't care what he wore on his feet that day as long as he showed up.
We're still happily married so have your guy wear what's comfortable, and enjoy your cruise.
