I just hung up with Carnival...making the last payment on our upcoming cruise. The rep asked if any of us were military personnel or veterans...they are offering "substantial" discounts on cruises. (I don't know what "substantial" means in terms of dollars but a discount is always worth finding out about...
Thank you, thank you, thank you for the info - after reading your message and contacting our TA we received almost $400 in discounts. WOW!!! Thanks again!!!
My brother in law is rooming with us and he was in the army for 4 years and his daughter is sharing a room with my daughters. we have paid for our cruise in full. do we qualify for a discount?
Our understanding is it is given to currently active duty military persons and retired military. Only a TA or Carnival can tell you who is eligible for sure and if you can still get it on a currently booked and paid for cruise. We have 3 sons currently serving in the USMC, all 3 were overseas. We only needed a copy of one of their Military IDs for our $100/person discount. They didn't say it was for former military so my husband didn't have to show his DD214.

Its nice to see that this info paid off...I love a good bargain - even if I'm not the one getting it! (and of course...just putting others first rather than having a secret and not telling anyone)
I just talked to a Tammy at Carnival. (12pm est.). She said that you had to have served at least 2 years-honorable discharge-provide DD214 papers. ALSO, you can get a discount for friends and family of military called a CPM3 and you can get a discount, not as much as the other. Now Tammy said it was per room but I am going to talk to the person I actually booked with in the morning and see what I can find out. On another board they said the military person traveling could get a discount for 1 other room if a grandparent, parent, child was in that room. Tammy said it had to be a dependent under 21. This is interesting. I am going to pursue this first thing in the morning!
