Boy, did I pick the right ship and time for my first cruise! John was hilarious! I am glad that he is back. He made us laugh the entire time. I had to buy the DVD of the cruise. My favorite part was the talent show. Afterwards, he included the audience in his bedtime story. I don't want to give the whole story away, but he chose a woman from the audience to play Mary, as in Mary had a little lamb. She was supposed to scream 'Help me, help me, save me, save me!' and sit down. However, after she screamed, she wrestled John to the ground and pretended he was a horse and 'rode' him! She broke his suspenders, and for the rest of the 'story', John had to keep his pants up with his hands! Sometimes he forgot and they fell! John could not stop the laughter and jokes afterwards.
If you were on that ship, please share your favorite moments with John. If you have any other stories about any of your cruises with John let me know! I know next time I book, I will get on the ship when John is the CD!
We also had the privilege of having John on one of our cruises and the only one that comes close to him is Mark Price. John picked a honeymoon couple at random from the first night in the show lounge, brought them on stage and made the husband do a funny dance. Then he told the husband that every time he announced the name of the town the husband was from on the loudspeaker, the husband had to do his funny dance routine no matter where he was. He told the couple that if the husband performed every time he announced the town for the entire week, the wife would receive a gift at the end of the cruise. I saw the husband go into his funny dance in the middle of the casino....walking to his table in the dining room....out on the Lido deck, by the second day everyone knew who this guy was. On the last night in the show lounge, they brought the couple on stage and presented the wife with a beautiful diamond necklace and lots of other gifts.
John picked a random Mary on the Triumph Feb of 04. Rode him, broke is suspenders, knocked a shoe off. He also had newley weds do the same routine and also had someone named Dickie Wooden pop up in the audience quite often. Great show.
I cannot comment about embarkation because when we arrived in Orlando, a horrible crash occurred and shut the highway down in both directions for 2 hours. Busses could not get to the airport to unload passengers and those same busses were to take us to the port. However, once we got to the port, it went smoothly - I would say about a 30 minute wait. We got on the ship about 3:30.
Debarkation - we self disembarked. They started calling us deck by deck and unfortunately our deck was last. The deck order was given to the cruise ship by US customs, so I cannot say anything bad about the ship. Once we were called, we got from our room to the bus in about 25 minutes.
St Thomas - again, US customs determined what deck order we were to disembark. Once our deck was called, we got through the line in about 25 minutes.
Overall, I would say that it was very efficient and I would definitely say that you will have a great time, especially with John being the CD. He joked during the debarkation process, making the process more fun!
John is a kick and will be on the Glory for a bit. He will then "Take out" the new CCL Liberty in the Med and his wife tells me he WILL retire after that. If John said he was retiring I really would not believe him but when Heidi says so....that's it. <G>
