We're cruising on the Valor May 29th. We booked a balony guarantee and ended up on the Empress deck. It took me about an hour using the Kelly method! 48 more days!!!!
Good for you! I tried before our cruise, but was not successful in the few IS decks I tried. I guess I never checked that we would get upgraded from an IS Guarantee to the best OV(Spa Deck)-it would have taken me a real long time to find our room!!
I did want to know, but it was kind of exciting not knowing where you would be until you boarded!!!
Kelly Method is a way of figuring out your room when you have booked Guarantee. You pretend you are ordering something ex:some soda/pop coupons from the Carnival site. You put in your booking number and go to order the coupons and then methodically plug in each room number until your booking # and room # match and you can actually 'order' the pop coupons(which you do not have to actually do). It can take a long time to do. You can only do it once all the cabins #s are set for the ship-??4 weeks before sailing.

VALOR Jan/05-our first family cruise was great!
I think the Kelly method is too tedious and time consuming. I started to do it, but after 3 minutes I gave up. I didn't know my cabin number until we checked in.
I found our room using kelly at about 19 days before sail. That was last week and we booked on Jan. 1. Not real extactic about where we ended up, but at least we are on the ship . This is my 4th Carnival and my 4th gty. This is the worst I have ever gotten, but that is the risk you take with a gty assignment..

We are going out on Imagination on 5/23, booked an IS room. Was looking today using the kelly method. I think maybe I found our room. Every time I put in a room# it kicked back & said invalid. On one though, it said "guaranteed room cannot purchase online- must call 800-....." would that be the room maybe? Thanks for the help
My husband read this thread earlier today and has spent about 4 hours trying to find our upgraded balcony guarantee cabin. Still no luck. I guess it will be a surprise when we board next week!
We booked a GTY and the room number was on our docs when we got it. It isn't as nice an upgrade as I have gotten in the past, but as long as it is on the ship I am happy. I was hoping that our kids cabin would be a little closer. We booked one Balcony GTY and one Oceanview GTY and we are on opposite ends of the ship and 4 decks apart. This makes suitcase sharing kinda difficult, but we will adjust!
Can you get your booking number only when you receive your documents? I was wondering how far in advance of a cruise can you find your cabin assignment?
We don't sail until June 25 and I guess our documents won't be here for awhile.
You should receive your booking at the time you make your initial reservation, deposit and receive your confirmation. The confrimation number is your booking number. You use this number to fill out your "Fun Pass". Check those documents.
Take care,
Mike

Look on the back of the card you fill out for your sign and sail. On the bottom left it will have your booking number and right after that sometimes your room number is buried in there. Good Luck.

Good question IceWolf. If the real Kelly is out there, can you help me find my cabin?
Like Lesley, I'd like to know how far away we will be from our kids, not just for suitcase sharing, but for supervision!!
CruznRN-
Just read how far apart your cabins are. I would give it a shot and either call Carnival and see if they can get the kids into anything else closer to you, or if you booked through a TA see if they can be moved. Probably nothing available at this point, but it is worth a try and you never know you may get lucky!
Hate to burst your bubble but your room can change before you leave. Just because that cabin is assigned to you today does not mean it will be assigned to you on sailing day. Between now and then, somebody could reserve that room and bump you out.
It took me about 2 hours using this method to find my assignment. I was booked in a 6A guarantee. I found that I am now in an 8B. I'm thrilled! I used this method last year as well. We were moved once, but stayed on the same floor. I hope that we get to keep out balcony! Oh we sail in 42 days!
