Default Dry Docked

I am a first timer...
We are taking the Carnival Destiny for our Honeymoon in Oct 05.
Our TA told us that the ship would be dry docked the week before we cruise,
is this anything to be concerned with? Why would a ship be dry docked and what does this mean exactly?

Default Re: Dry Docked

All ships have routinely scheduled dry docks every 2-3 years. Though maintenance is done on an ongoing basis.
The scheduled dry docks are set to deal with issues quickly, while no passengers are onboard. It's kind of like a scheduled refurbishment of tired areas and equiptment.
