We sail May 22 on the Valor to the Eastern Caribbean. We are staying in an oceanview stateroom - do they have blow dryers and make-up mirrors or do I need to take my own ( I need a mirror that magnifies!)? Also, do you have any suggestions/advice, etc. on anything that deals with the Valor - what to do/not to do while on the ship/days at sea, etc. I hope that you had a wonderful time and any tips you have will be greatly appreciated!
What are the best places for snorkeling, swimming with the dolphins on this Eastern Caribbean cruise? What are some MUST DOs while in Nassau, St. Thomas, St. Marteen or St. Martin? Any fun bars or places to eat?
Thanks so much !
Re: Who has cruised on the Valor/Eastern Carribean
Just returned from the Valor on 4/17. She is a beautiful ship, very historic. We had a
balcony stateroom that had a blowdryer and makeup mirror. Our stateroom was just
wonderful and very nicely layed out. Rosies buffet restaurant is very nice with good
food. The dining rooms offer many good choices (and a few not so good). The choices
for dessert are all very different. It would have been nice to see some old favorites.
As far as the shoretours go, we went to the Atlantis Digs and really thought it was not
worth the cost. (for more information you can email me). We went to Blackbeards Castle
for the day in St. Thomas. It was wonderful. Once you climb up on the top of what is left
of the castle, you have a wonderful view. Also, you pay $12.00 and can have the run of the
place for the day. They have 3 pools you can swim in, a restaurant/bar, and museums
you can go through. Just follow the path and it will lead you to the downtown area of
Charolette Amalie. We had a pool all to ourselves for about 2 hours and really enjoyed it.
For information about snorkeling/dolphins, etc you might try a port under the shoretours
section. Hope this helps. Feel free to email me with questions.
Happy Sailing............
Re: Who has cruised on the Valor/Eastern Carribean
We just returned 04-17-05 from Eastern Valor. Not much time in Nassau so we took a cab to Atlantis hotel go through the casino then down one flight of stairs and you can see the aquarium for free. We then went one block down to the public beach for free. It was beautiful & clean. We took a cab back to the ship, wach your time much more traffic going back. Great day not a lot of money. In St. Thomas we hired Sunny Liston Tours for $20 per person. He meets at the ship at say 10AM takes you over to the shopping section for 2 hours. Then we went on a guided tour of St. Thomas for 2 hours.
A great tour! We selected Sapphire beach where we stayed for 2 1/2 hours. Sapphire is
very clean, large beautiful beach. There are lots of fish, bring some dog biscuits to feed the fish with. Sunny takes you back to the ship. Another great day not a lot of money. You can reach Sunny at his web site. www.sunnylistontours.com On St. Marten we hired a cab van and went to Orient beach. Another great beach lots to do there. Then off to Marigot where we ate at La Vie de Rose a French cafe on the corner. Very good food.
Then off to the shopping district for an hour and back to the ship. You don't have to spend a lot of money to have a great time.
