mid june -belize zoo..will it be to hot?

Will it be to hot to enjoy the zoo in mid june in Belize? Can you bring a wheelchair? Dad has always wanted to go to belize and with that, I can get the city tour and let him see the animals. What do you experts think?

Well, it will be very hot and you will really need one of those misters with a fan on it to be comfortable IMHO. The Zoo has some rough paths and a regular wheelchair is not recommended at all and might not even work in some areas. A wheelchair with those big knobby tires would work though. If it is an elderly person with limited mobility and especially that time of the year I would recommend the River Wallace/Altun Ha tour or the Baboon Sanctuary and city tour.

Jim, the river wallace is an uncovered little boat, isn't it? How long is that trip (no bathrooms? What about the city tour of some kind? Any experience with that?

Yes the boats are uncovered so a hat and sunscreen are highly recommended. I also highly recommend those waterbottles that have a sprayer and little fan on them for comfort. (I had one once that is a pressurized insulated water bottle with a mister on it, I was VERY popular as the water was ice-water <G>) The boat trip is 1 1/2 hrs so go to the bathroom before you get on. A restroom is available at Altun Ha. The tour of Altun Ha is about 3 hrs and the return home is about 45 minutes in a nice air conditioned bus. Altun Ha is NOTwheelchair accessable it he requires one. Not many tours are really Wheelchair friendly in this country. The City Tour is pretty lame IMHO. Maybe the Powerboat Thriller? At least you rent a cart to explore the beach islands you visit but then again, if wheelchair bound it isn't going to work.
